Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I'm interested in what effect, if any, RFG bought in San Diego county has vs non-RFG when it comes to 'the tune'.

 

Finally have time to flash it today. Easy peasy process. Downloaded flash manager and proceeded to download the tunes, then wrote them to the truck, how sweet is that. No problem whatsoever. I like how the pedal responded and how it shifts and i do not find it too sensitive. Just my quick 2 cents.

 

I'm pretty sure that I was up into 5th gear under 40 mph. First drive with 1.03, and was only about 15 miles or so. I'll double check it later today. 4th gear is almost necessary to not get bogged down at that speed. S4 is fine if I have to use it around town so it doesn't shift to 5th gear when speed limits are 35-40.

 

So I’m attempting to flash for the first time and I get this window after clicking write. Can anyone give me a hand?

 

Took the truck for a spin today from the North Bay to the East Bay across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (a long approx. 6-8% grade for those of you who don't know) and it held nicely in 5th gear with an increase in speed from 63 to 70 mph. With the stock and 1.02a tunes, this would have easily resulted in loss of mph and a jump into 4th gear. Definitely liking the tune more each day.

 

Keep trying. It'll work.

Yah it looks like the file didn’t actually download. I got closer to the WiFi and it worked. Flashing now.

 

Is there a way to display what gear you are on on the dash?

 

Unless you’re in S mode, no.

But you can use your tatrix cable and techstream to see.

Or a OBD reader and an app on your phone.

 

What app do you use? I have Torque but never saw an option to display what gear you are on?

Flashed 1.03 first try on parallels. Super easy. Successful first try with both ecu and tcu. Only drove around town a few miles and wow, going from no tune to this is a huuuge improvement. I’ve got 33s and was planning a re gear, but really doubting I’ll do that now.

TT Turbo build begins next week

 

Really want to see the result on tt turbo and magnuson supercharger. I don't really like loud exhaust so leaning towards the SC unless there's a big difference between the two!
