We have nothing but icy roads here. Its all a matter of being smooth, and if that means re-learning to be smooth after 1.03 update, then that's on the driver. I can kind of compare this to my Yamaha R1 that has 3 different throttle modes. A, normal, and B. A is very touchy, and acts almost like a 1/4 turn throttle. How can you even ride the thing in A mode? Learn to be very smooth with the throttle. It won't take much with the Tacoma, just a little seat time.

You must be at sea level down there in Florida? Some of us live far from that, along with cold temps, and even when its not cold, its windy. I bet I average 9-10mpg, but that's with remote starting the truck to warm it up before every drive for a minimum of 15 minutes.

    Houston- So sea level, yes.

The exact same way I drove my 04' 4Runner which got me 20 MPG on the exact same drives. I understand everyone drives different but I was wondering if anyone actually had ANY MPG improvement over stock with 1.03?

My mileage went up with 1.03B. Mostly cause I no longer needed to keep my truck high up in the rev band to keep power and responsiveness at hand

@OVTune Would there ever be a tuner option where I would be able to tune the truck myself? I'm only asking because I have thrown around the idea of building a single turbo kit for myself and would like to be able to tune the truck. Is the software you use similar to the ecutek stuff?

I’m in the Tampa/Clearwater area too and I average 19-22 daily with the ECT always on and in S gears. My kit arrives tomorrow so I’m waiting to see what that does.

I currently use the S gears. Is that still needed with 1.03? I know it’s been changed. So how is ECT now?

I was running primarily in S even up until this latest release but have had no need in D on 1.03 in normal driving though I’d still use them in the mountains when I wanted engine braking and to snap around curves and I’ve tested ECT but given how responsive D is Id see ECT being more beneficial when loaded down or towing on the highway / climbing passes/grades with load, etc.,

I live at sea level, but because of the nature of where I drive (just outside of NYC) I deal with a lot of slow moving stop and go. My commute to work used to get me 15ish if I was light on the throttle. With the tune I'm getting 18 on my commute with normal driving. Highway driving seems to have improved, but the numbers are more blurred because I've been romping on it trying to make sure it shifts smoothly when passing/increasing speed.

I don't have your tune (yet) but I have had the clunk since the truck was new. It only happens for me when it's cold (the truck hasn't fully warmed up..outside temp doesn't seem to make a difference) and only when I'm almost at a complete stop....meaning I've slowed down from the speed limit.

I have the 6MT and without testing hills yet, it feels as though the engine breaking had decreased some. Will be testing it out more soon, but just something I notices the last few days while exiting the freeway and preparing to slow down.

Probably all in my head due to all the new response.torque and power, but when I can get to a very step hill near for testing, ill report back more.

there should be no difference, with the MT it's ultimately up to the driver downshifting for best engine braking.

for S mode torque converter stays locked on decel

Ya, I'm sure its just me not use to the trucks new feel.

But seriously, I love this tune! Thank you for all your hard work and can't wait for your intake tube, exhaust (hope its not overly obnoxious :) ), and any other refinements to the tune.

So it doesn’t get lost, regarding the fuel cutoff.

9 out of 10 times when someone gets unsuccessful they do not have their truck completely on, they just put it in accessory mode.
