How cool would it be to have a hdmi or mini usb input to our head units! Pair one of these to your hotspot and a Bluetooth keyboard. Flash on the go. Could even hard mount it behind the dash and leave everything in the truck. Wouldn’t have to worry about losing your dongle.

Or completely out of the box thinking, OVT figures out a way to ship the tune on this and it runs as an auto executable file. Or even better on the fly, over the air updates.

So hard to follow the thread with 50-100 new posts every time I check in. How bad is the sensitive throttle situation? On a stock truck, going from normal to ECT makes it noticeably touchier at tip-in but don't need much driving style adjustment to adapt. Is it that much more on top of ECT?

Also, do I need to get the newest 1.03, or do I still have the option to try out the 1.02 releases? Maybe I'm weird and I like the older tune better.

 

I just can't imagine anyone liking the older tune better, even if you are weird. 1.03 is awesome.

I'm going to give that a try... only laptop I have is for work and it's not letting me install everything. I can use the little portable computer I bought for the now ex-wife. Not too bad to transport and cheaper than a new laptop.

Says the USB dongle not accessible, so Windows does not recognize your USB dongle. Perhaps reboot the computer if you haven't already done so. Try plugging the dongle in different USB port, lastly, re-install the USB dongle driver.

 

Device Manager sees the dongle, so Windows is seeing it. My last attempt was a complete uninstall, uninstall AV, reboot, download drivers etc.., install drivers, extract pcmflash, insert dongle, ensure device manager saw dongle, run pcmflash, enter license key received from OV, and here we are.

edit - my dongle wasn't the dongle Mat thought I had so we may be back in business shortly.

 

Just make sure it has 2 USB ports.

 

87 tune installed. 25 miles in and .... WOW! What a monumental difference.
Aside from the obvious power gains, the usability of that increase is a huge improvement AND
1. Shifts are buttery smooth and at the right time.
2. Cruise control actually down shifts to 5th gear.
3. Most noticeable drivability improvement in my opinion is the usability of 6th gear.
* before, I had to be going at least 70 and on a relatively flat surface or it felt like the truck would immediately start slowing down after shifting to 6th - NOT ANYMORE!!!
* Cruise control on in 6th gear at 60 mph is a beautiful thing.
Oh, and ECT w/ S-mode is stellar!

Edit- has anyone done some offroading with this tune? Hows 2wd 4wd and 4lo hold up on the rock crawlin/offroading in general?

 

Nothing worse than having my tune kit sitting here ready to go and not able to use it. It’s like the last day of senior year in high school waiting for that final bell to ring. Lol

 

328.3 miles on the tank and still full?! damn that's like 400mpg! recoup my money spent on the tune in one tank! WAY TO GO MAT!

 

LOL he didnt reset his Trip A after fill up. I wish it was 400mpg!!

 

1st gear initial push of the throttle is rather annoying, you can't take off without looking like a boyracer trying to spin the wheels. Everything else about the tune is near enough as perfect as I want.

@OVTune you think anything can be done to make it a little less eager in that first few percent of the throttle push?

 

Dont have the tune yet but i read a few people say this. I have need for speed well see if you guys are exaggerating or not
