This statement is a little confusing.

The instructions talk about registration and getting a license key which are two separate steps. You've mentioned pre-registration in the past, but since this post mentions "1 step", are you including a license key with the shipment as well? Or do we still need to plug in and send you the dongle serial number?

No surge for me on the new tune after about a week. Weather doesn't seem to change
that, it's been 60's, 30's, & 20's here and still smooooooooth.

 

I was just about to ask the same thing. BTW mine will be here Friday! I won't get it till sat due to having a sleep study done... but Saturday tune it is!

 

He literally says the dongle is pre-registered, skip the registration process and sending serial and receiving email and just put the serial into PCMflash.

Come on people...

 

Registration and serial number are two different steps in the instructions, and Mat’s last post only used the term “registration”.

 

relax your panties... we're just verifying because as it said before, the registration step was separate from the license key step.

 

So i'm curious will there be a softer "tip in" version coming out?

 

Its more a complement to Matt then anything lol.

 

If you have a manual, there is 1.03C which is softer.

I wouldn’t mind trying out an auto with the tune but I don’t think I’d ever go back - at least not in the 3rd gen

 

Mat has said he's working on this and he tends to stand by his commitments - it just takes time to get to them all

Buy the tune - the tip in isn't that big of a quirk imho. If you asked me to take the option of an aggressive tip in vs. the lethargic stock tune there would be absolutely no question whatsoever. No hesitation. and the tip in softens with time. (that's what she said...)

 

Very much agree, very minor quirk and no reason to hesitate on tune. I mostly don't notice it and have adjusted for it - it did catch me a few days ago when I dropped off a Highlander loaner, jumped into the Tacoma and accidently chirped the tires pulling out of the dealer dropoff/pickup area.

 

That's not exactly a good thing unless you're finished lol

From my experience with tuning in the Subaru world, the re-flashes trips a checksum register that the dealer can identify and void the warranty.
