I had no problems although the instructions are not Ikea-like :)
My kids 21, 18, and 16 wouldn't be able to follow the instructions...neither would my wife or mother.

The below notes are not official and are not meant to replace OVTune's instructions, but rather help you navigate some of the potentially confusing order of operations. It's so much easier than it used to be, but the instruction haven't caught up yet.

Please pay careful attention to notes/warnings in the official instructions.

*** For those of you who have successfully installed the tune, please review my post for accuracy if you have time ***

With the new DONGLE pre registered it's pretty simple.

    DONGLE

    1. Download and Install all drivers and support software from flash manager. DO NOT plug the dongle until you've done so,
    2. Launch PCMFlash. The new dongles will have a serial number.
    3. If Mat provided your license key with your shipment:
    a. Click 'Settings' and paste the license key.
    b. Click 'Activate'
    c. Click 'Ok'
    d. Exit PCMFlash
    e. Relaunch PCM Flash
    4. If not, then email the serial number of the dongle to Mat and wait for the license key. Once received, complete step 3.

Identifying and Flashing ECU - Truck must be ON, but engine off (not running) – NOT IN ACCESSORY MODE! [Push-button start = push it two times]

    5. Make sure DONGLE is inserted in laptop
    6. Hook up OBDII cable to truck (OBDII Port) and laptop second USB port.
    7. Launch PCMFlash.
    8. From the drop-down menu, select the 'corresponding Toyota ECU' as per Mat's directions/pictures.
    9. Click 'Identification' and note last 5 digits of the calibration file (i.e 04B03).
    10. Click on the three dots (...) and load the tune file for your ECU that you downloaded with Flash Manager.
    11. Click 'write' and wait.
    12. Once successful Turn the truck off.

For the Transmission (TCU) flash, turn the truck back on as you did for the Identifying and Flashing ECU process.

The following steps are nearly identical to the ECU flash except #8 and #10
    13. Launch PCMFlash
    14. From the drop-down menu, select the 'corresponding Toyota TCU' as per Mat's directions/pictures.
    15. Click on the three dots '(...)' and load the tune file for your TCU that you downloaded with Flash Manager.
    16. Click 'write' and wait.
    17. Once successful Turn the truck off.

    18. Start truck and let it idle per Mat's instructions.
    19. GO DRIVE and try not to get a ticket.

    20. Come back here and post your review.

EDITED to add the following thanks to @bshammer0

when you get to the WRITE step in the process (in steps 11 and 16)...

You will see what looks like 2 error messages
    1. Confirms your battery voltage - assuming it’s not low, you can click OK. This is a good reminder to make sure ALL electronics of any sort are OFF.
    2. “error” message pops up saying the checksum was corrected. This is normal and nothing to worry about.

    3. If you get an error because the process didn’t complete successfully just leave everything on the way it is and retry - it will work. Don’t panic.

    Hope this helps.

None that I felt. No logs, just watched trans temps and misfire monitor all were good.

How long does it usually take @OVTune to send out license keys?

Depending on how busy he is, but I got mine in 2 days after I sent him my serial number.

Well done! The only thing I would call out for new folks is that when you get to the WRITE step in the process...

Don’t panic

Thanks for helping folks out with all this - and yes all get your reviews in once you’ve had a chance to test it out. Life is about to get a lot better for a new batch of donglers!

You can download it with flash manager. Or you can click the read button IN PCM before you flash and save it.

If I am not mistaken, Matt has the stock versions of each ECU revision available on the flash manager.

Hello, does anybody know if running windows 10 on a Mac using parallels will work to install the tune? Would rather go this route vs buying a new PC.

    thx

Sorry. You're right. Better solution is to generate a FAQ.

Question for you Tech guys. Can i start the the down load process to get the Dongle serial # on my desktop PC to get it emailed off to OVtune while i wait for my laptop to be delivered next week? Then run the whole process with my laptop when i get it? So i have the License key ready when laptop arrives.
