    Great tool to show the improvements at a glance. I also love that the term "butter" was used to convey how smooth it is.

    LOL I love the arbitrary graph! LOL reminds me of broachers I see in tire shops, with red/yellow/green metrics on things that are not measurable quantities... (Throttle, Rough vs butter, Shifting Annoying vs smooth)

    yeah - given this is mostly about drivability they do tend to be subjective measures though. and at least help to put in perspective when people talk about surge or tip-in that in the grand scheme this is so many miles beyond stock it isn't even funny

    I am impressed that you passed the emissions test , that is a huge plus for this. One last concern for me is the holding of 6th gear with the 87 tune. Does it feel like the truck is plenty powerful to hold 6th , or does it feel like it maybe lugging and holding it . I am worried it may be putting more stress on the drive train by being forced to hold higher gears. Mpgs are important to me along with longevity . I would not want to go to the 91 for the cost or premium fuel here.
    PS do you ever get over Arkansas ? Nashville is about 5 hours or so from here in North central Ar.

    oh I completely understand, just hit me as funny. no offense meant. I saw one at a tire shop and it was like (Wet stopping: Sliding out of control vs stopped safely, Acceleration YAWN vs Head snapping) LOL

    I was averaging 20mpg, but I fill up at half tank. I have not been tracking mpg since tune, but I will start next tank

    so you dropped 4mpg!? that's drastic! I'll be disappointed if I drop 1-2mpg... I'll be PISSED if I drop 4!

    Nah, I can't think of the last time I headed far West of Nashville unless by plane for work. Too much flat ground to cover between here and Arkansas though there are some beautiful places I love in the Ozarks!

    I head east to the Cumberland Plateau or mountains almost every weekend though.

    It doesn't lug in 6th - still downshifts when it needs to (it just doesn't always downshift from 6 to 4 when you hit a small hill or need to pass) but if you lay on the throttle it still goes down to 4th when you really need to accelerate or climb a big hill but I find myself paying less and less attention b/c the shifts that do happen are less choppy and rough. And there doesn't appear to be any excess heat created based on the A/T oil temp readings that I'm seeing either...

    Who knows how the long haul will play out for us, but it's REALLY hard for me to believe the stress of the jerking and delayed (often jarring) downshifts that occurred stock could be any BETTER on these drivetrains than the smoothness we feel tuned...

    Has your truck been sitting overnight? If you don't have enough juice in your battery this can happen... so starting it up and letting it run could be helpful before doing this.

    Do you already know your ECU version and have the files downloaded? If so you can skip identify and move straight to write...

    I hear you. and, i do happen to have a Ford Raptor and you are right. it will not become a Raptor. i also have a Ram diesel with almost 1000 lbs of torque. i like that as well.
    but i also really like my tacoma. its so much easier to get in and out of, drive around town, park and i can reach into the bed. it won't tow that much as the Ram and its not as fast as the Raptor-but i really like my Tacoma. i just want it to be better. right now i can't drive up my hill without it constantly bouncing from 3rd to 4th. it sucks

    LOL...as if I need to validate anything to anyone on a forum of strangers. You don't get it because you see your truck as an extenion of your ego, so when someone disagrees with your opinion on this integral part of yourself (in your mind) you feel the need to lash out with a feigned "best wishes" post that is really a candy coated "get rid of your truck, STFU and go away" post. You can go try and gaslight someone else, this is not my first rodeo. :thumbsup:

    @ebbs15 below gets it...

    Well, if you HAD financed it at $600/month, then you would have paid $7,200 in a year which is close to your expected depreciation. So it's a wash if you get rid of it.
