I know OV is busy, but I do wish that we could get a clear commitment (for example) on "fixing" the tip in/surge. It doesn't seem like most here off road. But many seem to think the tip in is a problem on wet/slick roads. That's just not acceptable (to me) for off-road use.

FWIW (nothing), my experience has been that someone that is too busy to answer questions in a timely fashion pre-purchase is likely to be too busy 'post purchase', should problems arise. Especially with all these other lines of business and commitments (Hong Kong). It's GREAT that the OV option exists, but someone will eventually fill the void of excellent communication and documentation. I sincerely hope OV finds a way to do so. Given that almost everyone seems to like his tuning work, and acknowledge that he works his tail off, it would be a shame for him to loose out in the end to someone that puts the rest of the pieces together.

I don't have any idea what other expenses Matt has, but there really is no reason that purchase/payment, all downloads, key generation, registration, documentation, shipping, etc. aren't handled from a web application. A good application could handle all of his admin, all customers needs and all communication between the two. Some simple arithmetic confirms there is significant money involved. Of course only he can determine if there is enough to pay for such an effort. He has implied in the past that a partner ripped him off and is now a competitor. Perhaps this has left him in a hole that he has to dig out of before he can spend $. Only Matt knows.

Note I did not say 'web site'; I said web application. For example, Wordpress would probably not be the best tech for example. And although no compete agreements are indeed useless, there are ways to protect intellectual property. Splitting the work between people is one way. Process is indeed king.

And no, I am not trying to run Matt's business or 'tell him how it's done'. He seems to being doing fine. But I would like to see him (and customers) do better. In the mean time, his tune seems like a god send to most purchasers. And that says a lot.

@OVTune, what about those of us that received tracking numbers Monday night, but UPS has no record of the package?

Continually paying $600+ a month for something you don't like is a BIG incentive to get rid of it. I'm not paying anything for the Tacoma. As of now, it's "free." If I, say, trade it in on a MT Tacoma/Tundra/4runner, I will have to come out of pocket $10-15K to get the one I want AND I won't be getting rid of a payment, cause I don't have one. :) I don't want to do that, cause I'm a cheap bastard, as I've said. I spent $800 hoping to NOT spend another $10-15K. Whether or not I would have already spent $7200 in payments is inconsequential to my situation, the coming out of pocket another $10-15K is the issue. It was a gamble, I knew that going in to buying the tune hoping it will make me love my truck...it hasn't. Like it more, yes, love, no...not yet, which is why I inquired about the tease @OVTune put out there almost 10 days ago about something making 1.03 owners very happy...I wanna be "very happy" damnit...

Flashing was successful! Just letting it idle for 10-15 minutes now, should hit my daily commute shortly. @OVTune, thanks for the key this morning, you made my day. Reviews up later.

I think it is way over hyped. I've been running 91 octane tune and haven't really noticed these issues. I actually prefer the pedal sensitivity. Haven't noticed the surge.

The only surge I get is the AC compressor raising the revs slightly when I'm barely holding the truck on the brake.. which is a complete non issue because it's my pressure on my brake. Also noticeable stock.

Tip in is much more manageable now.

Absolutely loving being able to get up to speed without it bogging down on each gearshift.

I get to answers as quickly as I can and try to fix any tune issues and investigate those as quickly as I can. This tip in surge issue that people are experiencing, I have yet to get a clear idea of what it actually is, vs what people are experiencing which happens stock.
Second to that, this does not happen on my development truck, and I plan to test again today from a cold start, and test everything that has been reported to me:
    1. only happens in reverse on cold engine
    2. only happens in reverse on cold engine when turning the wheel
    3. only happens in D when turning the wheel when cold?
    4. only happens when moving from a stop at very low throttle input

The problem with always being around to answer questions is that it takes time away from development, working with customers with real issues, and that 99% of the time it's the same question asked 10 different ways. My instructions have been updated 3 times to make it as a clear and simple as possible but I still have people who refuse to even read them. The most common actually is when people ask me why they can't read or write the ECU, and they don't realize the truck isn't even on, it's just accessory mode. This is actually the #1 issue with people coming to me for help, surprisingly.

If you guys want me to provide excellent communication and answer all the same questions over and over and individualize the experience I can, then development takes a back seat.

now I am not blaming the customer in these scenarios I understand this kit is not the simplest to understand or setup, and real troubleshooting problems do arise, however in general the folks who don't want to take any time to read or setup without my personal help take a real toll on getting back to everyone else.
I've had people buy the kit, refuse to do anything and demand a refund because they did not even want to even install the software. Stuff like this slows everything down.

anyways, I am still working on making the solution more efficient and user friendly. All kits are now shipped with the dongles already registered with guardant, so that skips the hardest part of the entire setup.
The only other "major" problem is that pcmflash is flagged as a virus, but this is because it has protected code that makes it unscannable by anti-virus software. There is simply no way around that.

@speedtre Assuming someone else requires validation from a forum full of strangers... Dunno, but it seems like someone may be projecting.

Assuming no one can give a genuine "best wishes", that seems like a guy that fears everyone is talking about/out to get him.

So, do what ya want get something different, don't whatever.
