Whoops, sorry to derail everybody here with Techstream. (Especially away from home without the flashing/Techstream computer to actually help any). While i am at it, Continued derail, Techstream is not very user friendly but will do a decent data log file of any variables you want, and can produce a csv. I am pretty impressed with it's capability. I got apparently 10hz out of it or so (just a visual example I was doing of rear locker current)

So I flashed yesterday then drove 255 miles from Denver to Royal Gorge, and back. 20mpg through the mountains with a decent crosswind pretty much the whole way. not bad. Throttle input isn't nearly as touchy as I was expecting. I had no trouble even on gravel keeping traction from a stop. power was a nice improvement through the mountains. I will say on flat ground the throttle may be nice, but going up a mountain pass, I felt like it took a lot of throttle to get it to downshift when needed to maintain speed. I am unsure if this is just because of me being used to the old throttle and shifting patterns or because Matt doesn't have the same type of elevation changes as I do here in Colorado to test on... but we'll see.

my way too early review is, overall I'm happy, not as much as I was expecting but still worth it IMO.

Wonder if ECT would have been more beneficial.

Awesome. Makes me feel better. I’m probably psyching myself out more than anything

I used it, didn't really notice much difference. The throttle is nice from a stop IMO, and great at WOT. but just felt the desire to stop it from downshifting on flat ground at very little input had the side effect of making it less friendly when going over mountain passes. again, unsure if it's me being used to the old throttle/shifting, or not.

I was expecting a bit more power, and honestly a bit more responsive throttle (just from how everyone was saying it was super touchy) but I'm still happy, just not as impressed as I was hoping.

Yes, can't drive a manual anymore (2 strokes have taken my strength and control of my left leg)

that honestly may be a big part in it. this is my first Auto in 15+ years. so I may just not be used to how an auto is supposed to feel vs comparing it to a manual.

Thanks for your review. I'll be looking forward to an update from you after some more time/miles. Any other Colorado or other mountainous users comments would be great. Especially if you specifically compare your experience to ebs15.

10Hz sample rate you say.. with 3 PIDs total being monitored? That blows OBD Fusion out of the water lol.

I gotta get techstream working on my laptop with the flashing cable/interface we got from OV. With that sample rate, I should be able to see stuff happening during the "stutters" I have. Now, what PIDs to monitor... hmmm

If I understand you correctly, you found the tune "less friendly when going over mountain passes" after the tune. That is the most interesting thing to me.

Looking back at the data, looks like averaged around 16hz for a couple minute test run, with time recorded on the file as a timer from record start. (Prefer it would be computer time, but it's easier for general populace as a timer.) Time recorded to XX.X seconds, so there will be data points with identical time stamps.
Had 3 'real' channels recorded and a couple of computer control mode type channels (which just recorded as 0 or 1, off or on which may have been less data intensive).

It's not 1024 channel MTS system at work, but I am pretty impressed with it so far.

    [Edit, ughh spelling/grammar on phone]

Got my S/N and just finished flashing! 10 minutes left of idle before I go have some fun!

The instructions were very clear to me. I know there has been a lot of confusion and blaming Matt but honestly, he covers everything in the document on the first post. I'm a systems engineer and write technical documentation for my team often and I thought Matt's documentation covered everything needed for a successful flash.

Steps I took to avoid flashing failures:
    -Dome light switched off
    -headlights/DRL switched to off
    -stereo switched off
    -climate control switched off

My flash took on the first pass. I see everyone say to reduce battery load but I figured listing out what I did may help others.

Can't wait for the idle learning to finish so I can go try it out! Tune review incoming!

Sorry to hear about your strokes. I wanted an auto but when I hear about all the issues with the tranny I went manual. Seems Matt has fixed all the issues though.

I had an auto then wised up and bought the manual :)

I had 50k miles on the 16 auto when I traded it, so it was time for a new truck anyway. Or at least that’s what I tell myself :anonymous:
