I've seen a few people say they want to get into 6th earlier on the tune. I would be even happier if I rarely saw 6th. On the highway I don't mind, but 4th is perfectly fine in town.

I used SSP before OVTune and I enjoyed staying in 4th under 45 mph. Even though throttle response is more linear and downshifting is smooth on 1.0.3, I'm having to get used to being in 6th at 35-40 mph on light throttle again. (At least it feels like 6th, haven't verified)

It's not an issue at all, especially with all the improvements in 1.0.3, just adding my 2 cents. I remember Matt posting that a new tune was in the works for people who didn't care about gas mileage.

I'm curious about you guys with the small differential between regular and premium...
Is your premium that cheap, or is your regular that expensive?
Around here, regular is about $2.16 today, and premium about $2.80. How does yours compare?

Well here in wonderful Southern California it's all expensive. 87 to 91 is just a $0.20. So for about $3 more a tank it is totally worth it.

$2.20 for regular and $2.60 for premium here in SLC. The $7 per tank difference is worth it for me. I just drink two less beers at the bar and it evens out :)

I'll check on lunch, but I filled up with 91 on Monday at 2.93. last 87 (might have been 85) fill up was 2.69 but that was the end of January.

looks like I'm just dealing with higher total prices, though

Pro tip to anyone considering purchasing.

    1. On a Friday night, preferably before a business trip (if you can swing it), drink a half a bottle of Vodka while reading about OVTune. Whiskey works too, but I find the hangover is bad in the morning.

    2. Let the alcohol kick in, and drunkenly purchase it... forgetting everything the next day.

    3. Go on said business trip, if you can. Upon returning, check your bank account and realize that you must have drunkenly purchased OVTune that night you got sh*t-faced. By now it will be around 7-8 days later. Groan a bit, because you weren't sure you wanted to spend that amount of money.

    4. Suddenly get excited that it's coming, but you haven't received any info or tracking number yet, so message OVTune asking for status. Hopefully this triggers him to go ahead and send it, and BOOM you are set with minimum waiting or "torture".

I've found this method to work quite well... as long as when you receive it you don't find out that he's holding off the serial information to release a new version of the tune.

*EDIT* Important follow-up: Make sure to FOCUS your internet activities on reading up on OVTune. Do *NOT* let the alcohol derail you into looking up Exes on FB, or searching random crap on Ebay.

You guys are killing me with these gas prices. Here it's $2.65 for 87 and $3.17 for 91.

I am so on the edge. I too will want to run the 87 tune because 91 here is .75 more because it is E0 . 87 is 2.26 . So this is 33% more for 91. Would enjoy the 91 but do not need it. It is never clear to me in any posts about the 87 tune but, does the 87 tune have more noticable (usable)torque in the 1100 to 3550 rpm range over stock ? Is it just as smoothed out as the 91 without the rocket boost at 3500 rpm ? I really want to be able to use 5th and 6th gears at the 55 to 65 mph range in a hilly area . I know the dyno cannot truly measure torque in the low rpms , but can be felt by the driver . I already know what the SSP does and its great on flat roads ( stops it from getting to 5th and 6th so damn early)but in the hills it still needs 4th gear all the time on the up side at 55+ mph. I have and will have a stock truck and tires . I get about 21 mpg on the hilly roads now if I keep it at around 60 mph. without CC. I am hoping with the 87 tune I can up this a bit to around 23 by using 5th gear instead of 4th . More importantly be able to get into 5th when pulling a 2000 lb. boat on these hilly roads . My mpg drops to 15 to 17 and uses mainly 3rd and 4th gear while towing and should up the mpgs a lot .
Convince me to just but it or shoot me down .

On the 87 tune my truck is still downshifting to fourth climbing a pretty steep hill i go up everyday to work . The great thing about it now is the truck will actually accelerate at that point . On small inclines and such you shouldn't have too many issues holding gears. I have more low end power than ever before . The truck accelerates good on the freeway in 5th and 6th. I had the SSP and it really doesn't compare to the tune . I vote you get the tune immediately .
