Not to mention a supercharger would cut 100-150k miles off the life of your ride. o_O

No proof needed, anybody who has owned a supercharger can tell you it shaves life off an engine. Heat is the #1 killer of an engine. If you get a supercharger you are going to romp on it because it is fun (obviously). If it is your daily driver you will gets loads of fun, but guarantee it will die before one without based on common issues.

actually, to make a statement like that, claiming it's fact... proof is needed, otherwise it's opinion...

yes heat is a killer of an engine (don't know if it's #1 or not) but stating that it'll shave 100-150k miles of life... that's a huge claim considering even if the motor goes 400K (which I assume it's capable of as it's Toyota designed) that 1/4 of it's life.

I love it when people say "I guarantee"... like that statement somehow proves what they say as fact... I think Tommy Boy said it best
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEB7WbTTlu4

also, I know a dozen people with 1st gens and 2nd gens with the TRD superchargers... NONE "romp on it", they may have in the first couple days/weeks of installing it... but like everything, they settled into a normal routine.

Ok, I retract my previous statement:
    however,

By themselves, superchargers don't measurably reduce the life of an engine. A heavy right foot, on the other hand, does reduce the life of an engine. The question you need to ask yourself is "Do you get a supercharger to drive slow?" They add power which adds stress, which decreases engine life.
It can be managable though. This impact can be minimized when boost increases in proportion with engine rpm.

    A couple sites for reference:

All that business about the 3rd gear hanging a bit longer aside.... I just drove home from the office on the interstate at 70mph on a slight grade for 10 miles with a headwind (gusts up to 30 mph at times) and it stayed in 6th the entire time. Is there room for more tweaking to perfection, sure but damn it feels nice not to have that bi-polar transmission dance!

Is there a planned release for a more aggressive 1.03 tune for 2018+ AT? I remember seeing Mat discussing plans for it pages back in this thread

    Absolutely agree!

I have a 20 mile commute to work on a suburban 4-lane parkway.....the truck now holds 6th gear the entire way doing 55-60mph! I never thought this would be possible! This improvement alone (holding 6th) made the purchase of the tune worth the cost for me. Sure, there are still some quirks....but it’s all such a vast improvement over stock.

I think... remembering back, 600 pages or so, that ECU 04B23 wasn't yet supported for the tune... so he's saying that he's going to release it on Saturday for that ECU version...

but I was wrong once before in my life...

Actually cold, and in particular cold starts, cause more wear on engines than heat. Of course overheating an engine will kill it, but that's not what we're talking about here. When talking about engine longevity, over the course of hundreds of thousands of miles, you need to be looking the other direction. Personally, I don't think any of us will wear the current gen engines out. The rest of the truck will wear out far before the engine, as long as you take care of it. And electric vehicles will be here before even that.

What’re y’all using to monitor what gear you’re in while driving? I know someone posted it a day or two ago but things buried so fast I’m having a hard time finding it again
