I know you were just being snarky, but in reality "volunteer employees" are responsible for helping Mat get this tune to where it is today. There was a lot of development before he got the R&D truck, and M/T files still depend on volunteers.
The early adopters started it all by giving Mat their hard earned cash. :hattip:

BTW, if you're upset by all the BS.. well that's unfortunate because it's not going to change. No way in hell you're pulling that off bud, sorry - welcome to TW and the interwebs.

    Cheers :)

Maybe one of things on the list is fixing the 4th and 5th gear “dick” dance when this truck sniffs a hill going around 55 to 60 mph. :fingerscrossed:

I just got some good data logging of this and sent to Mat. 50ish, 6th gear, slight incline, feathering the pedal to maintain speed, double downshift to 4th for no good reason.

Ok good. I don’t have data logging but I wrote a post (#15356) about the issue but it got buried. Others have stated they have had the same problems. Hopefully it gets addressed bc in my opinion this tune is a homerun.

I concur. This one issue, for me, keeps it from being a grand slam.

Tune kicks ass. Period. But, since we're in the "alpha thread" I'm also not a fan of the upshifts when I take my foot off the accelerator. I know this was requested so it would feel more "normal" but some of the pseudo engine braking was OK with me on the stock tune especially for city driving. I'd also like to see the TC not be in full lock all the time in S-mode so it'd perform somewhat closer to stock. Mat once made a comment that he wouldn't recommend driving in S-mode all the time, but definitely offroad... but when the truck wants to shift up to 5th or 6th and no engine braking happening, I just want to throw it back into S-4. I still overall like the smoothness of the shift points and snappiness of D, and overall it behaves much better than stock but I honestly never want it going above 4th until I'm exceeding 50 and no 6th until I'm on the highway doing 60-65. The dance is indeed still there - not as bad, and you can downshift quickly with the skinny pedal. I also keep hearing people who want 5th to hold longer 6th to hold longer, etc., but need to be careful. As tall as those gears are if you’re holding 6th going up too much of an incline your load is near max.... I like it staying in OD but dropping to 5th needs to happen to minimize engine load and 4th is needed other times. Just how the AT truck’s built... I just want it to stay in 4th until the appropriate speed and I suspect this is part of the new release on the horizon

The simple fix for in town driving, where speed limits are 45mph and under, is to just use S4. This thing doesn't need to be in 5th gear EVER around town. It instantly bogs out and then if you need to speed up at all, back down to 4th it goes. If you have a long stretch of road that's 40mph and no stops, then yeah 5th gear is great there, otherwise its completely useless. For me, its S4 all the time, and then either bump it up to S6 or over to D for highway.

I drive in D 90% of the time. But like last night I was driving home on the hwy going about 60-70ish. Anytime I hit a hill it would slow down to about 55 and drop to 4th. As soon as it got back to speed (60) it would switch to 5th , slow down and drop right back to 4th and repeat until I got to the top of the hill or just floored it to keep it from doing it.

You’re not. But once you get used to the tune some of these final quirks become more obvious and are fixable which is the good news.

Yes I am and I love the tune. Like I and others have said before the tune is night and day better than stock but there r some wrinkles that have to be ironed out. That’s why Mat bought a R$D truck and why we give input. It’s still a work in progress but very close imo.

I agree with pretty much most of this.
I’d rather the RPM’s hold higher and gears 1-4 to hold longer. I’m ok with 5th somewhat but I don’t want to see 6th gear until I’m doing 60-65 on the freeway.
Right now on the test tune I’ve noticed a firmness in the shifts almost like it’s gonna be rough but it’s not. I suspect that tuning can only alleviate this so much and it ends up just being Toyota’s transmission and engine combo.
Eventually I see this getting to the point where OVTune has gone as far as he can. I think he’ll be able to fix about 90-95% of the issues at hand and those are numbers I’m ok with.

Okay, it's like @OVTune & about a dozen others, myself included are the only ones that haves jobs or at the very least stay focused on the thread. Y'allhave been running on about nothing that pertains to this tune. Not sure if you're running for some office, but this ain' t the forum for it.
