    First impressions:

The truck is a 2017 TRD OR DCSB with tec package. I have steel front bumper with winch. Front steel skid plate and steel sliders. Tires are 34X10.5X17 KO2 on 105 Race Bead locks by method. Cut tail pipe off just after the axle. I leave at 4500’ and do a lot of travel and wheeling above 7000’. I had the truck at 10500’ during the testing period.

I didn’t have the complaints some have about the transmission and engine combo. The truck performed like I thought a 6 speed with two overdrives would perform on a 3.5V6. Yes, it will hunt for the right gear on hills and I move the shifter to S and control the transmission that way. I have always done this in Autos so I can hold the RPM I want. I tend to keep RPM up going up hills. It is also the way I would drive a manual. I never lugged my manuals up a hill. I had none of the other transmission issue and the truck has both updates to the transmission.

First thing I notice is the ability of the truck to now maintain 5th and 6th gear more (50-85MPH). It appears there has been enough torque gain in the lower RPM (>2000) to hold these gears. My truck is not in 6th much with the 34”s. The truck is also more responsive to throttle inputs and even more so in ECT mode. Throttle sensitivity is improved in D and much improved in ECT. I like the throttle sensitivity map of the ECT mode and would like that to be the D mode map. Then push ECT tune to close to max of 91/93. I would like to see more torque in the 3000 to redline range. Very happy with what is now being made at the low end. I thought there would be a bigger difference where the truck makes most of its power though. I have ran the truck in all modes; D, D+ECT, S, S+ECT, and traction control off in all the same modes.

I Know this is not much of a review but I have about 200 miles on it so far. Things I would like to see.

    More power 3000 to redline
Firmer (quicker) shifting in all modes or ECT
Locker selectable in all modes (this may be doable without wiring modification through software. The 2L on the other hand would require hardware changes I think)

My Spec U exhaust arrives Monday and I hope to install in before the end of the week.

Here's hoping the "bog" after upshifting and getting back into the throttle is gone too :fingerscrossed:

So far good! Granted if you are shifting at a low rpm the bog is inevitable....when i shifted high like a boss no hesitation was felt.

Oh hell yeah. I want to "unlearn" this form of driving a manual transmission - permanently.

If we have to switch to 91 to get more power, did Toyota really put a conservative tune on the engine? It was my impression, based on the initial findings from @OVTune, that Toyota purposely retarded the engine and put on a conservative tune.

I hope we don't have to go really aggressive to realize any significant gains.

I do not have to many miles on the tune yet nor have i monitored but according to my ass and no sign of knock or detonation i have a feeling more timing can be thrown at the motor safely.....time will tell.

Most auto manufacturers severely under-tune engines in today's vehicles. High compression + retarded timing curves = 87 octane and cleaner EPA happy engines with no real power.

ive got a feeling with some more feed back and OV seeing more tunes, he will be able to start tweaking this much further.
I am waiting until christmas bonuses to possibly order after some kinks get worked out and possible head unit.
