I haven't... living in a city that sits in a river basin I'm fine with giving up a few ponies if it will help the air I breathe a little bit. Besides I added tailgate decals and that gave me instant 10whp!

To clarify I would shift to S mode and bump shifter up 2 times. The truck would then upshift to 6th and hold it. But in D it was holding 5th.

    Any test this yet?

I think it would be great if when shifting to S mode it would match whatever gear you were in D mode. Then shift to your desired gear.

You can go from D to S, hold it forward and it'll go to 6 providing conditions are right, speed, load, etc.

    Your missing the point.

Same load, same speed, same throttle position, same road grade-elevation.

D- truck would not shift to 6th IT held 5th.

    S-in S6 truck would hold 6th.

This means if I drive in S6 I’ll get better mpgs than if I drive in D, for the same given route and weather conditions.

Yes, did it like day 3 when I put in my K&N drop in filter. I don't consider it a performance just figured I'd remove it cause I just wanted to...

To add to this. 1.04 91 tune has DEFINITELY increased mpg as much as 2mpgs for me. Averaging 17.5-19.5 in morning commute with stop and go traffic. And that with a heavy ass lifted rig

Same here. I have only started DD'ing my truck this week. 1.03 made it so bad I only drove it when I needed to. I may sell my 99 VW Beetle TDI now... 40+ mpgs though... hard decision!

I did notice that after getting 1.04 that both my tachometer and digital speedometer now match speeds!! Not sure why they finally decided to pair up after 36k miles

I don't think the truck will hold 6th gear in S6. It will still downshift. In S5, it will not upshift to 6th, but it will still downshift. In S4, it will not upshift to 5th or 6th, but it will downshift.

Of course, I could be totally wrong, but "S" mode is a maximum gear limiter. . .it does not prevent downshifting.

I think he understands that S mode is a gear limiter, and it won't prevent downshifting. I think what he was suggesting was that the S mode had different shift maps than the standard D mode, which allowed him to cruise in 6th gear on the highway in S mode, but going the same speed in D he would be stuck in 5th gear and it wouldn't want to upshift. :notsure:
