    that's my angle: driveability. more power total is a bonus for me, as i just want the glory of this hardware, as you can see it above 3500rpm, to show everywhere with good normal throttle response. basically removing everything that makes it numb in stock form, at a minimum. ain't that right, Frank. ;)

    Dude..... I forgot about that.....

    I swear to god that kills my Mpg by 5+.... my engine will not let itself coast.. its always trying to engine brake... down hill i have to shit to N to get the rpm to drop or it will shift to a lower gear and rev to 3000+

    This is encouraging. When I stated earlier there were many places to hide a counter I didn't just mean the ECU. I am given to understand that some German cars store CAN-BUS / Gateway handshaking session data or incongruencies. Sounds like first party Toyota tools do not need a live "mothership" connection to initiate a coding session.

    I am also curious how your moving the "load factor" targets and allowances around affect Atkins cycle portion of the maps. I am assuming the ECU sets Atkins cycle parameters any time the load factor is low enough but my understanding may be wrong.

    It helps keep you in the powerband. Yes it does i have one. This tune + the shiftsense will equal a awesome truck

    It sounds like the OV tune will have it's own transmission shift map.

    It bugs me the most when slowing down at low speed off road. Let's say I'm at around 2K RPM in 4lo 2nd gear going downhill, and let off the gas. It will engine brake consistently down to about 1300, then all of a sudden its like you popped out all 6 spark plugs!

    Anyway, 1st world 3rd gen problems..

    OP, I'm very interested in seeing how this works out. Great information on what is going on so far!

    I have one request. I'm not interested in max power, hurting emissions, give me all it can, or running on 91+ octane. This engine makes plenty of power, but the low rpm torque/responsiveness is really what hurts the driving experience. I'd like to see a tune that is just fine with the cheap gas 87 Octane.

    I tow a light utility trailer and would like to do a lightweight camper someday...... Daily, I could probably be fine with a ACOR with a 4 cylinder.
