Some confusing file names in the instructions....PCMFLASH, P5Flash, ToyFlash. As far as I can determine, these are all ToyFlash 1.0.0.

Running P5Flash opens the ToyFlash application.

Naming consistency in publishing instructions is critical, especially for users like me who are easily confused.

Thank goodness for instructions with screenshots.

But, you've had previous experience with what seems to be an older, more complicated tune flashing process. This is the first time around for me.

First of all, the product/service OVTune has offered us Tacoma owners is far superior to the stock ECU tune. A fine piece of research and development.
All I am saying is, if your product/service is asking the owner to alter the characteristics of their $30K - $45K vehicle, then the instructions should be clear and concise as possible.

Minutes after the current instructions were released, there were a dozen posts with questions. Not wanting to miss anything, I read through the instructions word for word.
When I couldn't locate PCMFlash, I paused and retraced my steps. Then I discovered my source of confusion. Using three different names, throughout the document, for the same piece of software is/was confusing to me.

    Enjoying the tune.

@OVTune out of pure curiosity, if Magnuson comes out with a supercharger and we use their tune for the supercharger, would we be able to read the ecu data and send that to you along with some logging data so you can clean up their tune a little bit? I'm thinking mostly throttle response and shift points because I doubt Magnuson would think about messing with that stuff

I started out like everyone else here: found the forum info, bought kit, downloaded some stuff, and flashed. I had to read the instructions a few times, but managed fine.

Not sure why he would support another company? Will Ford warranty a Toyota?

Because it’s not efficient. If 5th was shorter I don’t think there’d be as many complaints about he kick down when load is increased.

I don’t think you guys realize how low the final drive of these trucks are in 6th.

Meh, yes and no. It might help to numerically increase the transmission gear ratios, but you could get the same effect from swapping the final drive with no real downside and with much less cost OTD. None of us have tires rated high enough to get to the top speed that this truck is theoretically capable of (taking into account stock gears and stock 32s), which would be like 170 something, so it makes a lot of sense and some TW users have reported good success from swapping to 4.56 or 4.88 diff gears..

Has anyone with the purple dongle , that did all the setup on 1 computer and flashed successfully from said computer , then tried to use a different computer with the same registered dongle ? I am wondering if the dongle or new computer needs to be reregistered .
So to put it a different way , If someone needs a new computer , can they just download any PCMflash version including the future 1.10 and be good to go with the dongle they have and used once already ?

I'd say you need the same computer it was registered on because the licence he sends you is specific for that computer. (That's what Matt's instructions say)
