I had asked this a while ago. I believe the dongle is tied to the truck, not the computer. If you just install the guardant drivers and run pcm flash it should work just fine.

That's a bummer , I go thru a laptop every couple years because something always craps out and I have NEVER had a laptop or operating system last for the 10 +years I plan on keeping my Tacoma . I would have hoped that once the dongle was registered , it would be good on any computer anywhere with the same truck . This should be addressed @OVTune .

This is what the new instructions say with the dongless app. It might be different with the dongle kits.

I'd say it's not a smart move either. I get a new computer every couple years as well or break them.

If you have the dongle, nothing is tied to the computer. You just need to reinstall all the drivers/software to the new computer and you’re good. As for the new dongleless tune I have no idea.

I’d venture a guess that everything is dependent on the ECU serial number.

Mat's new instructions say the dongle-less kit is tied to the computer. :(

Not too sure about that. My farts tend to linger a little too long in an airplane.

I know @bshammer0 has a review thread, this is for the taco owners not sure about this tune. Just did a short 50 mile interstate run at 75, mostly flat except for about 3 overpasses and had no wind to speak of. I'm on the 1.04 91octane and averaged 20.8 according to the on board, 20.7 old school filling it back up. Was using cruise the whole way, predictable & smooth. Light pedal input to get around slower cars without dropping a gear. Of course the power is there if I need to get horsey with it. I have gotten a stupid high mpg of 25.6 going into work in the mornings, no traffic and I was trying to go lightly to see what I could get. Thanks @OVTune, better shifting, more power, better maps and better mpg to boot!!!
