Can't wait. For the record, I know your product has some merit. I have read your posts. I am an engineer, I can smell bullshit a mile away, and I don't smell it with your tune. I'm also an adult, unlike some people here.

However, some people who buy your product get, hmmm, "over enthusiastic" when describing it in other threads. Basically it is an answer to everything. Popping noise? Fix it with OV tune. Tire rubbing? Fix it with OV tune. Geez.
The truth is, most problems can be fixed by simply stepping on the accelerator. The new guys come from a vehicle that is quite different than the Tacoma and they expect it to operate the exact same way. Some, like whats his name, truly needed something different and your product fit the bill.

Glad you are working with Toyota on this one. That's a big deal! Definite congratulations. I work a few large companies on hydraulic system design and the hoops you have to jump through can be daunting. Good luck!

Still want to see his 0-60 times lol.

I can absolutely agree with you on that, this forum and folks can definitely get carried away with stuff, and somehow one sentence gets transformed into 10 different claims. Like the idle after flash. 10 minutes will eventually be "idle for an hour" on this thread. went from 5, to 10, we're up to 20 minute idles now.

As crazy and off topic as it gets this forum is definitely one of the better ones out there. I like the community. For the most part very respectful, easy going folks.

You want to see some real shit go to the Miata forums. God I hate that hell hole.

Once I arrive at my desk here I will get more updates out.

I’m 28. And have ran several tuned vehicles. Toyota wouldn’t be reaching out to him if he wasn’t doing something right.

The undeniable evidence doesn’t need any more words. Maybe one day you’ll buy the tune and understand.

I’m not the one to say this tune solves everything.. but it certainly made me keep my truck.

I’ll have your 0-60s this week.

Well, I'm 58 and an engineer as well and I mostly qualify as an adult. I didn't get the tune because I like to spend money (que the anti-Pro guys), I got it because, regardless of the advice to "push the pedal harder", the stock tune has a significant delay between when you press the pedal and when you actually have something happen. It's actually dangerous imo. And I don't really care to "get used to it".

In my history of Toyota/Lexus vehicles I have never seen this behavior. I have owned new '01, '07, 09 and now 18 Tacoma's. Between the '09 and the '18 I had a Tundra. Had I experienced this on the '18's test drive I would have questioned what I was doing. I traveled to a rural dealership to purchase and there wasn't much traffic to speak of on my test drive, and I'm not one to punch it on a test drive anyway.

I have an RC 350 with the immediate predecessor to the engine in the '16+ Tacoma. The engine absolutely rocks in my RC, which was why I wasn't really concerned about the Taco, until I drove it in the metro area. The RC is about 500# lighter than the Taco.

The tune works. You press the pedal and it mostly just goes. There is still a very short drive by wire delay, but it is greatly reduced. It definitely feels way more like my RC than it did stock. I have confidence now that when I do press the pedal hard to pass, it's going to work when I want it to, not when it wants to.

I like you. And tour truck only because it’s that cool blue.

Yes. This tune completely changed the truck. Yes it still has its quirks, but it’s significantly better than stock.

Nothing against engineers, but wasn't it engineers at Toyota that created this stock Tacoma tune mess to begin with? Love what Mat has done with this truck, like @dYL0n, it changed my mind about trading it in.

So just over a week ago I sold my taco which had 1.04 on it, and purchased an '18 4runner TRDOR. I have about 200 miles on the T4R right now.

The tune for the taco gave new life to the truck. The low end torque was sooo much better than stock and made driving fun. I hear people say the T4R runs like butter and it does. Very smooth shifting and acceleration feels good most of the time. No weird quirks at all. And no acceleration delay, which I was experiencing on the Tacoma (not the tunes fault it was there on stock). But, it feels like it's lacking some of the juice 1.04 brought to the Tacoma. I especially felt the "lack of power" pulling into traffic the other day when I had to gun it from about 15mph. Felt like it didnt want to get up and go like the Taco did. What I'm getting at is this tune makes that thing sing and is something I'm hoping to see on the 5th gen 4runner. So far it feels like it needs more juice earlier in the RPMs.

What’s the secret to getting in touch with @OVTune ? Email, IM, and tagged over the last week with no reply to my question. I know he’s been here, because I’ve seen him answer other people.

I sacrificed a virgin lamb right after my email. Shortly after I received a response. I’m not sure what others did.
Not sure if it’s related, but it couldn’t hurt.

Anyone receive the new tune files yet for the dongle-less crew? Was hoping I’d have an email this morning, but no luck yet.
