In the south we only have the 93 option for premium but in many parts of the north/midwest/west coast, 91 is the norm for premium. Mat is based on the west coast where 91 is the standard premium and thus that's what he's been able to safely test for the ignition advance. He has mentioned that in a few months his development plans include creating a safe tune for 93 octane which should eek out a couple more ponies theoretically but trust me, 93 octane is awesome on his 91 tune. I wouldn't risk mixing octanes for now. If anything, if you're itching go ahead and tune with the 87 tune and run down your tank of gas to E, then fill back up with 93 and tune. I've done this in the past - literally gone to the gas station, filled up with premium and sat there and loaded the tune.

Of course I've flashed my truck 20 times by now across all versions and tests since last summer... your mileage may vary :)

I wondered about the availability of 93 across the country and found the site below. To your point, I think the south would be obscured by markers except... why bother, 93 is everywhere. I'm in Houston, I don't think I've ever seen 91 here. So, I feel like the 91 tune is a waste for me; because 93 is so much more expensive. If a 93 tune is much better than the 91, I would consider it.

I wonder what an 89 tune would do... 89 is not much more expensive and available nationwide, I think (or at least there would always be something higher). Judging by the large timing advance Matt got with 91, I suspect 89 would give some respectable gains.

Who's up for 89 tune? Shall we let OVT know of the demand?

My bigger concern would be the inconsistency of 89 in the pumps.... often they are a mix of premium and regular around here and also tend to become more stagnant (not good for ethanol) as they aren't pumped as often as 87 and premium. At least that's what I hear in these parts from folks who have worked around the fuel industry...

I can confirm the mixing; but, it happens at the truck rack during loading. I suspect it is quite accurate due to regulation and for precise billing.

As an aside: every batch of gas is unique regardless of octane rating. Gasoline blending is quite a complicated balance of octane, vapor pressure, density, etc. Add one product to fix one property and you mess up the other properties.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I’m only on my third fire from waiting. It only gets bad after five.

Pending system ID's have been setup for registrations. Will have those out around 2-3AM California time (expecting to, depends on when I'm off the dyno tonight)

Any chance of tuning files going out today as well? Are the tuning files generated individually for each system ID?

Are ecu/tcu files specific for each person now? If so, how long can we expect to until those files are sent out? Thanks in advance.

The wait for the registry file (system ID already emailed) is a frustrating start to receiving a $750 accessory that doesn't work :ballchain: yet!

I was rereading this and I realized y’all received your registry file already.

I still haven’t. Y’all are just waiting on tunes.

Who else is waiting on the registry file, like me, in the dongleless crew?

I remember him saying something like June-July timeframe. I was searching for it but couldn’t find it on my phone. It was quite a few pages back.
