Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Yikes. I bought mine in OCT 2015...

 

Mines a 2016, I’m hoping I have the update already. I got it used, so hopefully already done.

Ah ... I see it’s a Automatic Transmission bulletin, I escaped that one I have a manual

 

There isn’t a Toyflash anymore for dongleless.

It’s called something else. Can’t recall name. Something with 5 in it.

 

Is there something I need to know about earlier 16's not being compatible with this tuner? I'm waiting on the next batch and I got one of the first 16's off the line, and it's an automatic.

 

My understanding is 16’s had issues with the automatics hunting gears and hanging on and not up shifting,when enough people where griping Toyota finally admitted faults and approached a solution, bringing them to file a TSB

 

Just get the tsb done and you should be fine

 

All are compatible, the main thing is that there is an upgraded firmware release from toyota because their older version tunes have issues with the transmission programming. Applies only to Autos.

I don't make tunes for these pre-TSB versions because the upgraded firmware has code changes for the transmission that are truly *required* for better driving and tuning.

 

Phew. Thank goodness. I had that done. If that's it, then I'm good to go.

 

I had to unzip the OVTSoftpack files. It was in there

 

@OVTune have you sent all the files? I see a bunch of people have received them but nothing in my email.

 

Then I'm guessing the answer is "no".

Yikes, that's a buzzkill. Sorry for the bad news man! Hopefully just a delay until you can get that TSB squared away. And hopefully you've got a good dealer to work with who'll update your ECU pronto! Keep us posted...
