Thankfully my dealership kicks ass. I’ll be taking it there tomorrow and getting it done with little to zero frustration.

Will early MT have any issues with older firmware? (and your tune?)

I called my service tech’s cell and he’s taking care of me tomorrow. Too busy today. I love my dealership service department.

    Little help please,

I have the dongle-less flash kit, and now that i have the tune files, i'm wondering if I need to read my stock ECU file before flashing the new tune. Since the instructions don't cover reading the stock ECU file, can anyone tell me how to read the ecu with the new flash tool?

    Thanks

    Cliff

I was wondering the same thing.... after I already flashed it. Shot Mat an e-mail after to see if he could send me the stock file for future use if required.

After driving it a bit, I can’t imagine going back to stock voluntarily!

Sorry don’t have my laptop with me atm.
But I believe within one of the software from Mat , in the heading look in the pull down menus. Somewhere there you should find “Read”

    Maybe someone can chime in

From the dongle squad, but in the pcmflash software we use there is a "read" button, so look for that. However, iirc Matt included the stock tune in the files we downloaded so we didn't have to bother unless we had a new ecu/tcu version that he didn't have the tune files for already.

no I appreciate your input. I am sure many don't follow this thread and therefore would have
not known. I have watched it since day one. Really considering the Tune but all the confusion and apparent delay (for good reason) has me wishing Mat would start a two-part order/billing process. One for the hardware when ordered and shipped, and another for software (tune) when the Tune is registered/loaded via his main frame. Just seems like buyers would be less stressed and Mat could have better customer service = $$$$.

???? well that sucks. Anyway the ECU vesion can be identified before ordering? I can just see Toyota tell those needing an updated ECU (so they can use OVTune) to take a hike. UGH.

I just identified mine with my code reader. It was very simple.
I have a really good relationship with my dealership though... It is easy to get anything I want done.
I bet if you just tell them it is sluggish when going up a hill and accelerating from a stop, they will look into the ECU and update it. It's the cheapest fix for them.
That's if you need the update.

Had tsb rev 1 done and sticker under hood. thought the work order would state ecu version but it does not. I will see if I can find a code reader and operator willing to check the version for me.

If you have any of the tsb’s you are good! I have the very first one (04B02). I asked Mat earlier if It worked and it’s fine!

The rev1 TSB should give you the 04B03. Either tsb should be good for the tune from what I've read.

O’Reilly’s, Autozone, and Advanced Auto Parts have code readers that they usually read your vehicle for free.
