Mat sorted it out, no worries.

 

Here I am after a week of trying...laptop checked by a computer guy and checked out fine. No way this will read my ECU information! Looking like I'm stuck with a very expensive cable and OBDII reader that I can't do anything with! Very frustrating

 

The car is on but the engine is off?

 

Pressed start button 2 times....ignition on.

 

Drivers installed? connected to truck, then to laptop, then open PCM flash

 

Yes...followed instructions exactly. All anti-virus disabled...windows defender disabled...real time protection disabled. Installed the drivers and made sure they are good. Checked USB port and it works correct. Installed the reg file and made sure it was installed in the correct place. Did the connection to the truck...then to the laptop...then opened pcmflash or Toyflash for dongleless. Reg number and name come up. All truck accessories are off. Let it set that way for 20 minutes last time I tried today and nothing. The identify button is grayed out.

 

Hmm, can't help you, hopefully it all works out

 

Have you tried any other software just to make sure the connector is working properly? I think there are some free options out there. Did you check for damaged pins and such on the connector or even on the truck port? It would suck if the truck port was damaged by Toyota or something and they didn't mention it...

 

Possibly uninstall then reinstall everything?

Edit: not sure if this will affect the registry if you have gotten that far yet

 

I guess I will have to figure out what other software will work with this. As far as the obd2 port from Matt it looks fine. The port on the truck I haven't checked.

 

does the obd2 lights up with pretty colors?

 

I have done that several times. I had this laptop gone over before the install...a new SSD drive...more memory and windows 10 installed. I guess that was one advantage of the dongle...if my computer rolls craps I'm out.

 

The OBD does light up all the pretty colors!

 

Try with a different laptop. Email Matt and re register on a different computer.

 

I've emailed Matt twice the second time just now. And before anyone gets all freaked out and says be patient I know he's in Hong Kong so that's why I've been trying this thread as much as I can.

I do have my computer guy bringing me another laptop so I guess that's my last resort. Any way maybe something happened to the OBDII connector in shipment?

I pray you are correct. Guess I'll find out when I get another laptop tonight.
