I'm not looking at anything, just going off feedback.

My truck is fine.. power is fine, driveability is fine... the ONLY thing that bothers me is gear hunting when driving uphill. I'm guessing this might address that?

However, I've gotten used to it by just using S-Mode and cruise in the mountains. I've noticed cruise will hold low gear while going up a hill instead of trying to upshift... so it avoids getting caught in the 4-5-4-5-4-5 continuous shift loop on uphills. Wonder why Toyota can figure that shit out and make D function like cruise on uphills.

The calibration kit has been delivered!! I had already installed the drivers and downloaded the needed software. I have saved the license file and emailed it to @OVTune.

 

New guys here is a PSA: Before you write to your ECU make sure your software is set to the 76F0196/198/199/219 P5-CAN-bus. If the last file read was the gearbox the program will default to it. So after you do the Identification to check connection remember to go back into the drop down and select 76F0196/198/199/219 P5-CAN-bus. If you get a checksum error go back and check. Ask me how I know.

 

Whst happened when you wrote to the gearbox?

You rewrite the original gearbox file to the gearbox. Keep your original files in a safe place. I would keep duplicates of all files.

 

I was more asking what actually happened. Resolution seems obvious enough.

Sorry, I thought what happens was obvious enough. You write the wrong file to the gearbox.

 

Out of curiosity I downloaded a bin reader from the interweb and compared the original gearbox file to the one that was supposedly over written and both were identical to each other.

Glenn when you said it would no longer ID correctly what was different? No biggy if you don't remember.

 

I finally got my keys back from Matt and was able to finish the software installation and register my dongle at work during lunch. I just finished the ECU upload and sent it and a screenshot over. I don't expect the guy to work weekends, but it would be sweet to get a file to download this weekend. My truck has been pampered with 93 all week in preparation!
