Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

LS500 turbo diagram. I don’t think it’ll “bolt up” to our block. This has triangle flange. We have square. @OVTune

I would of taken for granted we would need the exhaust manifolds off the LS

 

So who will be the first to find totaled (hit from the side or rear) LS500 in the junkyards???

 

Awaiting email from dev for more keys to be sent, but been sending files since this afternoon, will likely knock out the rest tonight (if possible).

as soon as we can get one of these turbos we will have an answer.

 

Replacing a flange is extremely simple, especially if you have to re run the exhaust for a turbo setup anyway

 

Well the flange is built into the block. I’d imagine it wouldn’t be as simple as I though.

 

Do you mean the mating surface of the heads match those of the header flanges?

 

If you can't change it off the block, then change the flange that connects to it. There's always 2 flanges. Always. If there was just one then it wouldn't be able to connect to anything

Note that I've put in about 200 miles on my 1.04 91 tune on my DCLB with 4.88 and I still grin everyday. I can't believe how fast and light my truck (read: pig) drives now!!

 

- should have any remaining reg keys out sometime today..not sure what time it is on that side of the planet.

The OP has mentioned turbos a few times as something to add to the tune in the future, so I'd say that's on topic. Just sayin

 

I've spent a while searching through this thread and created an account as a new member and need to ask a question I have to believe has been answered somewhere already.

If you have the 04B01 calibration file on your Tacoma from the factory, is it necessary to have T-SB-0077-16 remedied before e-mailing Matt to get your tune files? While there's a few posts in this ginormous thread that imply you have to do this, they are old and not totally clear. I have an appointment set up to try, but it seems like the dealerships around me are totally clueless about the TSB. If this is a step I must take, I'll find a way. Otherwise, it has been quite time consuming to convince my local dealerships to provide me with the TSB service.

 

Yes, you will need the TSB.
Tell the dealer you are experiencing downshifts being held too long. Like all the way down a hill instead of upshifting after cresting the hill. Reference the TSB if you need to.
