Check out some pawn shops in your area, there is bound to be a Netbook or some similar small laptop for less than $100...hell, I've seen (bought) them for $50 before. If you're gonna drop 8 bills on a tune, you can probably kick another $50 toward a Windows laptop so this won't be a concern.

I've had my truck in for service 3 times since I installed the tune and the dealer has not mentioned anything to me about it.

The RCA Cambio 10.1" 2 in 1 32GB tablet with windows 10 works well and is only $80. I bought it just for the tune because I didn't feel like lugging my not-so-small laptop out to the truck.

I keep seeing comments along the lines of a reply to someone who is about to buy the tune, with a request for them to share their experience to help this other person decide whether to purchase the tune or not. Happens somewhat frequently.

So. Head on over to the link below and read up on the flood of reviews posted there please. No need to wait however long for some random dude to purchase, receive, install, test, AND review the tune when you can just read reviews already posted and decide from there.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/poll-ovtune-reviews-3rd-gen.535928/

For those of you who already know about that review thread and have read reviews posted there, and are still posting in the manner I described above, then honestly there's probably no help for you and you'll just sit on the fence forever because one more review from yet another person you do not know isn't going to be the final deciding factor, and nothing else is likely to push you to decide to buy or not buy.

*edit: before someone calls me out on this, there's a difference between deciding you're buying the tune and having the funds to do so. They're independent factors. You can very well decide to buy but put off your purchase until the funds are available

Truck has been in several times for service and warranty work all OVTuned for most of the last year. No problems... He's not crazy leaning it out or winding it up to put a bunch of stress on components or anything. I have to imagine at some point a tech has gotten in mine to drive it and been like "this feels much better..." but I'd love to have that conversation with a dealership that says, "your truck shifts normally, doesn't bog down, the throttle seems more responsive, and the engine runs smoother..."

I'm at work and I apologize for the lazy post... but what's the all in? You need the license, the "dongle" and a laptop? Trying to work out the cost but I'm juggling a 60 hour work week, a puppy and my wife going into surgery tomorrow and don't have the time to do proper research for a while. This is something I would like to do. (don't tell my wife) lol

    Edited for bad phrasing. :)

well, after tuning and driving the tune for 200-300 miles you will definitely notice mpg gains. I got 20mpg on my way to work today. Lifted, armor, bigger tires, etc.

Rock, if you want to wait until I get mine (ordered the cable and tune today), I'd be happy to tell you about my experience.

It's the cost of the tune package plus a Windows 7 or better computer to install it if you don't have one.
Some folks actually drug their desktop system out to the truck. Other folks have been having success using Macs running bootcamp I believe.
Mostly as a test I purchased the RCA Cambio 10.1" blah, blah, blah for $80 and it works fine. There should be a link below for it in the Products Discussed... window.

I am very happy with OVTune and I keep saying Toyota owes me the cost of the tune because that's how the truck should have been running when I bought it.
