I'll let you know when I'm done, but so far I've installed the flash loader software and scanned my pc for my unique id number. I've emailed OVTune with my truck and PC's info. Now I'm awaiting a registry file/.exe from them so I can scan my ECU.

After that, I have to flash the ECU.

Couple steps, but so far it seems pretty straightforward. Their documentation seems pretty good.

Got my 1.04 91 tune file today and flashed successfully first time. Process start to finish took no more than 5 minutes. Fellas.... follow the dongle-less directions step by step it’s actually very simple!

Truck is great it feels so much smoother under almost all conditions and also more powerful with the exception of going 75%-100% throttle once already cruising. While the trucks downshifts 2-3 gears to really accelerate hard, the rpms flare up then slam back down 500rpms almost like the torque converter is unlocked then locks very quickly. It’s not like I hammer on my truck that often but there are many times when getting on the highways here in NY you have to really accelerate hard to merge safely into traffic. (Think long entrance ramp and 3 lanes of traffic traveling at speed with not a lot of holes to squeeze in to. NY drivers aren’t very friendly and no one likes to let you in.)

I’m going to try and record it using my iPhone to post here and/or send to the support email address for OVtuned.

You need to drive it more. A lot more.

Flash, let it idle for 10 minutes untouched, then report back in 200-300 miles.

I did let it idle for 15 minutes after flashing before driving it. Also, I was under the impression that the tune completely eliminated all engine & transmission “learning” but I could be wrong on this.

Yes the intelligen transmission has been eliminated. But the engine still needs to learn the new maps.

Just received my Tune files from Mat! Very impressed with response time as I sent him the ECU ID information today about noon. Tomorrow can't come soon enough! Ready, set, Tune!

    Thanks Mat @OVTune !

    Yep.

No bipolar transmission here, so I can verify this.

Knock correction, fuel trims etc etc etc. It literally takes hundreds of miles for everything to settle in.

Chill and drive the crap out of it.

Give it some miles, that scenario will soften up as it learns

I did the same thing after trying for weeks to get a virtual system working on my Mac. The RCA did the trick dongle-less with minimal trouble.

Matt, of course, helped me through and I successfully tuned yesterday. It is already a noticeable difference.

Just waiting to hear back from Matt with my email. Can't wait to scan the ECU and get the code back to him so I can flash.

Mine does the same. I have put 2 and a half tanks through so far and no improvement.

What each version do you have? I’m 04b02 and am having a different experience than most as well

    a few...
I too have experienced this a couple times with the 1.04 91 OV tune. It’s not a good thing at all. Looking forward to hear if you get a response.

My wife gave me the tune for Father’s Day. It was a big surprise. Been talking to her awhile about it and I didn’t think she was paying any attention to me. So I ordered the tune, the tractrix port, and a cheap Windows 10 laptop last night—-#2879. I was pretty happy because I’ve been driving with the Shift Sense Pro and the Pedal Commander for a couple months. I really liked both of them. They made a big difference in how the truck ran,but power and torque hadn’t changed.
However, reading the installation instructions was a real eye opener. A little background: I’M pretty old (71) at least compared to you guys. But I was raised on Mopars and big block Chevys and owned a lot of them. I still like speed and lots of torque. On the other hand, I wasn’t raised with computers. I can do banking and a lot of other things computer related but when it comes to those installation instructions I’m really handicapped. Heck,I just got my first vehicle with power windows 10 years ago.My daughter says it looks pretty straightforward but it’s Greek to me. Hopefully someone in the Temecula-Murrieta area of Socal who has the tune already can help us if we get stuck.
I’ve only been a member here a couple of months but I’ve learned a lot from you guys. Some of it being how much money you can throw at these trucks if you let yourself.. Here’s my truck:2018 ORSB,Cement,Prem/tech pkg,BAMUFFLER,modded TRD cai,AFE throttle body spacer

Okay just found the time in my day to install my Tune. Went with 1.04 87 octane. No issues on the Dongle-less install with the ECU flash. My only screw up was on the ECU ID, where I failed to press the start button twice. Fool me once bad on me. Not a second time with the Tune flash. Let it warm-up a good 20 minutes and took it for a quick spin. Feels much better. Will have to take it for a real test tomorrow and report back. ??? for those of you who added the Tune and had Shift Sense (which I have - and only used when towing in S mode) … did you dump the SS or continue to use it for towing? Lots of reports about standard driving after the Tune in D mode but little about the Tune affect on S mode. ???? The Tune Rocks!! Thanks Mat @OVTune

One of the most satisfying things in life is being able to put an automatic transmission in DRIVE and never think about the shifting again. OVTune has brought me this little slice of heaven back into my life. I only use S-mode for offroad or mountain driving where I need the engine braking. I don't even use ECT often anymore... though it can be a lot of fun on the interstate or in the mountains :)

Smack me for being stupid, but what's the procedure for READING your factory tune and saving it with p5flash prior to installing Mat's tune?
