just tried unplugging the OBD connector and leaving it connected to laptop and still can't write to ecu. I tried contacting matt and he hasn't got back to me in a long time so i guess im stuck on 1.04 87. I think i may have toyota flash it back to stock and then maybe try again. thanks for your help guys.

I went from a 2001 Tundra to the 2017 Tacoma. The old Tundra never did this. Cruise control was spot on all the time. The new Tacoma is terrible with cruise control on. There are many times at 70+mph it downshifts to 3rd gear and runs over 5000RPMs up a hill. Without cruise, things are much more normal, but still downshifts too soon. Using cruise control on my road trips have netted me maybe 15-16mpg average, running in 4th gear almost all the time unless I'm being pushed by the wind or going down a hill. Hoping Mat can do something about this too.

@OVTune Since you have controll over all the injectors do you think a E85 tune could be in the future for us without turbos? Where i live E85 is for the most part readily available.

Why would you want to run E85? Worse mileage, less power because it produces less btu's and causes issues on fuel systems after time. Ran it for a while where I used to live, I wouldn't run it in a lawn mower now. But to each their own.

Actually, when tuned for, you make more power. However, it does take more E85 to make that power. Ideally, you blend 50:50 for an E47 fuel blend and tune it. That makes really good reliable power. E85 is also $0.20 cheaper than 87 so arguably, you can make a 91 octane fuel using a E85 and 93 blend for cheaper than you can buy 91 octane. So now you are saving money and making the same power, with negligible MPG loss.

Has far as harming fuel systems, that is a thing of the past. Now all manufacturers are making their fuel components withstand the harmful corosion of ethanol. There are a few of Toyota's vehicles which are flex fuel... Tundra, Sequoia, etc... you can't tell me they are putting 2 different kinds of materials in their fuel systems... that ain't the Toyota way.

Considering different vehicles are made in different plants, with different supply lines, they may very well be using different materials

The only way they are different is if there is a huge cost savings for doing so. In most instances that’s highly unlikely. My money is on them being the same.

You check the flash file size? I had some files I pulled from the flash app that read 0bytes.

I had to leave for work but I think it was 1.08 - I downloaded 1.09R this morning after my previous one didn't work. R won't even show the files.

Got to drive a 2018 f150 this weekend. 3.5L v6 boosted. Jesus... press the pedal, truck just goes faster. No waiting, lull, delay, etc.

With 1.04, ECT, and S mode all engaged it feels pretty similar, but am I gonna fuck up my taco driving around like this?? The Ford is pretty ugly and expensive. I’d way rather just make this pretty taco work but... it’s a lot of work.

EDIT: this ovtune, ECT, s mode thing could really work out. Feels solid. I’m no speed freak I just need quick, low-drama 0-25 for City driving (merging, lane changes, etc). DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WILL DAMAGE THE TRUCK??
