Thanks for sharing your experience - I think I'll give it a try on a nice drive to Michigan this Saturday. I'm used to spending the extra money on 93 for my Golf R, but its harder to justify on a truck that runs fine on regular and has a tank that's 7 gallons larger.

I've run both but for me, the engine just seems to like premium (this was true for me stock as well, but more pronounced tuned). It sounds smoother, feels smoother throughout and the extra oomph on the low end running 93 on the 91 tune is very noticeable to me. While the 87 tune is hands down better than stock when I reverted to the 87 after running 91 for months, I did feel like I had just strapped on a few hundred pounds of armor in comparison to 91. It's expensive, but I love the way it runs on premium with the tune. Period.

And whether it has any damn impact or not, I'll let myself believe that giving it top shelf VPower all the time is keeping everything clean as a whistle! :)

Agreed. My truck has always seemed to like premium more. There’s a noticeable difference.

The best fuel additive that actually boosts the octane by 3 full points is made by Lucas. I use to use in a 98 Cobra to boost octane from 93 to 96 to prevent knocking when I would run an increased timing tune. It comes in a red bottle with blue and yellow writing. Good for 20 gallons or so...

I have experienced this as well and have no clue what it could be.

on a similar topic, high load, low engine speed scenarios: LSPI (low speed pre-ignition). I've only experienced it with FI, direct injected engines in the past. Forced induction direct injection engines are typically most susceptible to LSPI. I would think, the fact that we have a hybrid setup with both port and direct injection, that would significantly mitigate the effects of both LSPI and carbon buildup. Ford is known for their hybrid injection on the Gen2 3.5L eco-boost in the GT which puts out just under 650hp, quite reliably.

Whatever the case, I would be interested in @OVTune 's thoughts on this since we are now venturing into the boosted territory.

Mine did and does the same thing as well. But it did it on the stock tune as well as 1.04

So far I have 15-20k miles on all the versions of this tune in total and felt I’ve been lucky as I haven’t experienced many of the issues other owners have reported. Today however, I was stopped at a light that had a big backup and short cycle. Was there for a good 10 minutes before making it to the front. It’s about 103° out and I’ve got the ac cranked. When the light turns green, I accelerate and experience 3 little hesitations in a row before it actually properly accelerates. Was a tad scary since You don’t expect it to hesitate.

Makes me wish I had some data to share. I’ve got a carista adapter but dont know what else I need. I thought there was a thread that shows how to set this up... anyone have that link handy?

Edit. I’m on 1.04 91 with 93 in the tank

    Edit 2: found it https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-log-data-using-techstream.543307/

Edit 3: carista for obd fusion. Tactrix laptop and tech stream to log. Got it.

The only octane boosters that work worth a damn contain MMT. Which plugs up CATs etc....

On step 2 of tuning wife's truck... Can't wait

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
The only octane booster I know of that works is Torco. Spendy but does raise octane. I'm sure there are others but only one I use in my Z.

I agree with you 100 percent and I brought this up to OVTune. He told me 1.05 would fix the early upshift to 5th. Like said before, just use S mode until you need 5th gear.

I'm going to chime in without reading further into this thread so this may have already been addressed.
Ads a test I loaded the 91 tune, used 87 octane gas and STP Octane booster and noticed no ill effects. The truck ran great.
I've since reverted back to the 87 tune. I rarely need the higher RPM power of the 91 tune to warrant running it. Although I do occasionally miss it.

I went in with explorer, I checked the malware program, windows defender on the laptop and in explorer. Anyone had this issue?

I didn't have that issue with this software, but I've had the issue before. Just try downloading again. If that doesn't work, then reboot and download again.

In the bottom right where it says "encrypted files" change that to all files.

edit: when you go into the OVT file you have.
