Is it dramatically different feeling than being in a manual trans at x rpm and letting of the gas. Both drivetrains are locked so I would think the feeling with a locked tc in an auto on decel would be similar. Just asking. I really can't think of a practical need for it besides towing and using engine braking on long down hill descents vs brakes.

1.05 sounds like it should be a full version number upgrade rather than a dot upgrade! :burnrubber:

Still waiting on the cheap laptop I bought to arrive....got my Tactrix cable a few days ago. Once I have the lappy, I'll be placing the OVTune order and join the ranks of the happily tuned.

Im on 265/70/17 now and will be on them for the first few weeks of being regeared. This will likely put me in an over geared situation but with the added weight (fully steel armored + bedrack, rtt, etc), it may not be too bad. My plan is to see what it feels like and then upsize my tires to 285/70 hoping to find that sweet spot of power, mpgs, driveability with all the weight

i should just do it but want to wait for toyota's tsb flash and 1.05 before making a final decision. 4.88's in the auto are still ultimately lower than 4.30's in a manual in 6th.

It is different. The manual feels a lot softer when engine braking. With the TC locked on the auto it decels quite quickly. I took some videos of it last year, don't think I ever posted it though.

With the TC locked you can decel to a stop with just light braking I came to a near stop a few times with no braking, but it really feels like your dragging an anchor.

Regarding gears, I will be gearing the R/D truck, haven't seen anyone post yet that they geared it and didn't like the difference.

I thought the TC was locked when using the S gears for 1.04? (Not in ECT). Is that still correct because it does feel a little heavier now.

It is depending on requested torque but not locked like what I'm referring to. What I did was make it lock any time truck speed is above 5mph and only unlock when shifting. I could coast with no pedal at 2000 rpm decel full lock in 5th or 3rd, even 1rst, any gear in D

It actually is very fun on the highway when you want to accelerate, full lock 4th gear ECT / S mode.

But for daily driving it was no good.

Yeah with the manual trans the engine braking is never what you’d call heavy or severe. Doesn’t really make sense from a gearing perspective that the auto would be soo much “better” in that regard. VVT angles upon decel on the auto different from M/T trucks?

These trucks are super weird. There’s probably some magic setting buried that just hasn’t been uncovered yet. Change it from zero to 1 and everything magically works right

You might want to pin the transmission cooler thermostat open for your road trip.

I'm interested to have you be able to drive the tune and do testing on east coast more severe weather swings. Tuned truck does seem to get a bit confused at times w/ shifting / load on a hot day with the A/C running as you've seen from some others. Mine isn't as severe but it shifts differently when it's hot out vs. milder temps for sure!

Good luck w/ the move! Looking forward to what 1.05 brings and how you've integrated the latest calibration updates into the same.

Are you still tuning 1.05 on your mostly stock truck or has it already got some FI yet? :)

Also, the software update you mentioned - will this include the datalogger you've been working on for the last year or so? I know you've been fine tuning it for some time now so can only assume that's at least part of what you're excited to release w/ the 1.05 software updates?

I enjoy the truck with ECT on, it feels 1k # lighter and is perfect in highway driving. Not ideal in stop and go traffic because it holds the 1-2 shift too long on very light and low speed throttle but otherwise I love it.

I was getting 19-21 with 91 tune. Went to 87, now its 21-23. 91 definitely has better power though.
