So after you unzipped the cuw folder you just clicked on the correct for your vehicle file after having the laptop connected and it loaded its self. Am I under standing correctly?

I have the older version of TS many have on here installed, but I did not have to open it for the CUW files. Literally idiot-proof... plug in tactrix, click CUW file, hit a couple of buttons and in 6 mins was updated to the latest calibration. Will probably curse this decision when driving in traffic in the morning but I can suffer for a few days since Mat is releasing 1.04 for the new calibration this weekend.

For my own curiosity I have to know how Toyota’s “best effort” fares even though I know I’ll be wishing for the responsiveness, power, and lack of trans learning on OV

Does make me frustrated so many people are getting such a hassle over the update. Literally takes less time to just do it than argue with a customer over why you won’t...

And yet, someone on one of the 3rd Gen FB groups said a dealership service department bricked his ECU doing the TSB...

    But how??!!!?

Quoting myself, forgot to mention we will also have in stock Pre-Tuned ECUs for people who would rather just swap the ECU and go instead of flashing.
It will be configured to your VIN specifically.

It's moneysense.. You have to describe your truck's symptoms matching the TSB so the dealer can charge Toyota corp appropriately and do the corresponding fix.

Edit: @OVTune I know you had the B04 for 2016-17 trucks but here is the A61 ECU for 2018 for your analysis

First I have seen these. Thank you!

Will work on adding support for this.

Several vehicles but I can't publicly post that.

@OVTune hey Mat, just wondering if you got my system ID for order 2993? Thanks, I'm stoked to finally install the tune!

Question about the ecus... Could it be possible to wire up a second ecu parallel to the existing with a switch in between to pick and choose? I'm asking because I had an idea to have the option to have on ecu tuned for say 91 octane and the other for 87 so if you accidentally put in 87 on the 91 tune you wouldn't be totally screwed.

should have these out tomorrow afternoon. Last bit of the move finalizes in the morning so I will be unavailable until then.

Is it possible, yes... but the difficulty and complexity... would be a nightmare. There is easily 50+ wires going to the ecu. It definitely would not be hot swappable, like switching with the truck running.

Yes Calibration ID Changed to 0B0400. I assume if you had the previous CUW files you could change back and then be able to run the OV Tunes that were developed for those ECU IDs.

Yes. The CUW file is an executable that launches an update software. You follow the instructions and it does its thing.

Techstream is not needed unless you are going to use it to download the latest files. If you did that you have to have a membership to TIS. The CUW file launches and that is all that is needed.

TS is not really needed for anything other than monitoring sensors and systems. Unless you wanted to change some things like seat belt chime.

Yes. I used the one that was posted.

    Update on drivability of 0B0400:

Preface: I have 4.88s and 33s so my driving experience is based off this. Additionally, I have not done any city driving, pull offs from stop signs, traffic etc. Just 72 mph down the highway. I did have to stop a few times for red lights but everything described below seemed like it was "OK".

I will describe this tune as such: It is like going from 1.02 to 1.04 when it comes to OV Tunes. Toyota really made their tune much better. It seems to not try to shift to 6th ASAP. If you need to be in 4th or 5th it seems to stay in those gears until either speed or load are right. A 100% improvement from the factory tuning of the 16-17 trucks.

Pros- Holds gears on the highway. Cruise Control doesn't get psychotic. Has a consistent power band. Seems to not hunt for gears. MPG seemed about the same as 1.04

Cons- 1-3 shifts are pretty quick. (Like, before 20 MPH). I'm sure if you were accelerating it wouldn't do this but normal take off 3rd came quick and was a little bit of a dog but it stayed in 3rd long enough that the switch to 4th seemed right.

The verdict is still out on the above. This was based on a 10 mile drive.

    Takeaways:

I WILL be going to 1.05 the minute I can get my hands on it. I appreciate Toyota trying to make it right but I am a performance oriented person and will never leave a vehicle stock.

For the person who is on the fence about getting the OV tune:

If you have stock tires and want to test this TSB tune form Toyota before deciding on the tune. For sure do so!

If you have 33s and a lift: YOU NEED TO REGEAR. NO TUNE CAN MAKE UP FOR THE PARASITIC AND OVERALL GEARING LOSS FROM LARGER DIAMETER AND HEAVIER TIRES. Will it make it better? Yes but it WILL NOT fix the issue.

If you have larger tires and have regeared to compensate but do NOT have the OV tune: Same advice as above for stock tires...

I hope this info help some folks out when it comes to "curiosity killing the cat" purposes.

Cuw file will not launch without Techstream on the laptop. At least on a win10 box. Windows said not recognized file. If you have TS on the laptop and click on the Cuw file it runs and auto opens TS.
