Once 1.04 is out for 04B04, I plan to update to 04B04 to "try it out" and then update to 1.04 for 04b04. I cant imagine that a stock, factory tune from Toyota could be even close to what OVTune has provided for us. I just cant fathom stock being better. But, like others, I like to update and see what the buzz is about.

No sir, I mean 1.04 for 04b04. @OVTune mentioned he would have it available this weekend earlier. This way, im not stuck on stock 04b04. I am also looking forward to 1.05, but that is a month away.

Even on 4.30 stock gears the tip in on 1.03 was too much for me, especially 4lo 1st gear - HOLY! That and I was one of the poor saps who encountered stuttering on 1.03B/C.

Not sure if I should flash from 1.04 to the TSB. I am starting to get the "bog down" when accelerating from a stand still. Definitely annoying when running 33's. I had 1.03 on my 17 PRO and loved it. Didn't need to regear and kept up with my aggressive drive style. BUT. The difference, not just in version of tune, between my 17 and 18 is the 17 had the TCM flash. Could this be the one of the culprits for the bogging sensation?

Is the process for upgrading versions (example from 1.03 to 1.05 when available) essentially the same as installing from stock? If not, is there a write up for upgraders?

Same process as writing over your stock calibration - you've done all the hard part already

Can anybody in this thread confirm that both TSB 58 and 62 are in fact the same? Taking the truck to the dealer tomorrow to do this and want to make sure I ask for the right TSB or both.

Both TSBs say that the end result calibration ID is 04B04, so probably safe to assume that files used are the same.

Driving in ECT is a necessity in city traffic again where you need to be able to weave in and out of some aggressive drivers. Much easier and more nimble with the tune. Shifting remains decent overall, was actually impressed to see it hold onto 5th until over 60mph. I'd say highway driving is drastically improved with the TSB, but city driving is doggish still. found myself hitting the throttle to change lanes (my lane stopped, lane to my left had traffic approaching at 50-60mph) and had the first oh shit moment in a long time. still the throttle wasn't dead and it did move but not nearly as fast as with the tune for sure. Also had my first delayed clunk when coming to a stop cold in months... the tune eradicated this for me and the TSB still seems to have the clunk when stopping cold that feels like a delayed downshift to 1st

So basically I'm hoping the 1.04 that's compatible with B04 ECU maintains some of the smoothness in shifting and TC behavior with the instant power I've come to love so much!

Just got caught up on the last six pages of posts - I won't be taking my truck to the Mother Ship for most recent TSB - just going to ride the wave until 1.05 comes out. Satisfied with 1.04 and simply don't want to give the dealer any reason to F with my truck. Toyota should come out and admit they totally F'd up, and they should not be jerking owners over who want the TSB done. Fortunately those of us with the Tune know how these trucks can perform and the Dealer BS is just that - BS. Thanks Mat @OVTune !

Apparently, my bitching in a previous survey had an effect. I’m answering the questions as if I still have a stock tune.

Will 1.05 be able to be flashed if I don’t get the TSB update from Toyota? Or is that TSB update going to be required when 1.05 comes out?

If you get the TSB you won't be able to tune yet until Mat finishes the compatibility with the update. If you wait and get 1.05 it will incorporate what this TSB has in it.

    New update!

Highway driving with 0B0400 is spot on. Really no difference in it and OV tune 1.04 other than power. As for traffic driving... I think if you had the extra ponies the OV tune provides, Toyota's tune would be acceptable. I am netting 18+ mpgs on 87 octane with 0B0400. I only get 18+ when on OV tune 1.04 91 octane.

Still, I WILL be getting 1.05 when it is released. Just trying to give props to Toyota or at least to the technician who convinced Toyota corporate they screwed the pooch!

Props should also be given to the untold number of Toyota customers who took the time and made the effort to "make Toyota aware" of the driveability issues that led to TSBs. No feedback, no change.

I would also be willing to bet that someone in Toyota Corporate who can make a difference, has read a few of the 1070 pages in this thread.
