    I used white lithium grease and they have been quite for the last 6 months.

    Yup, that stuff is like paint thinner. Similar base ingredients that will break down rubber. It's why WD cleans oil based items like grease so well. Great for cleaning tools.
    Petroleum distillates I believe are the key words. WD-40 will evaporate like paint thinner as well.

    You might try using a dry graphite spray lubricant over a grease of wet lube at it will attract dirt over time resulting in wear.

    Much simpler answer-
    A spray can of fluid film would solve most squeaks- and prevent rust.

    This must be why I have NEVER had any squeaks in my Tacos.... I have it sprayed with Corrosion Free every year.... Never any rust or squeaks
