B49817CC-FD88-475D-A7E6-FCC31800D682.jpg Hello Tacoma world I was wondering if I could install the 2016 Toyota Tacoma premium radio in my 2012 Toyota Tacoma base I have gone through the wiring and everything seems to be plug and play with A few adapters The only thing that worries me would be the space the 2016 radio is bigger and I don’t know if it will fit.

Yes you can but you'll need a radio surround and brackets from a 13-15 radio. You'll also need to buy a gps antenna (they're cheap on Amazon) to get the navi to work. You just gotta trim the radio surround to get the new radio to fit. Everything was plug in play for me but mines a 13OR model so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Do happen to recall which surround you used or where you got it?

No it doesn't have the RCA hook ups. If you're trying to install an amp it's still possible as I have an Alpine KTP-445U power pack amp installed on mines.

I created a harness that connects to the Alpine amp and directly to the speakers. Check out this videos, it'll explain it a lot better.

Why didn't you go aftermarket? Could have gotten similar features with better finish.

image.jpg image.jpg ace96 I have two Tacoma’s and I went aftermarket on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma but I didn’t like The quality of the software on the original Toyota radios the software is amazing nice and responsive and on aftermarket radios you just don’t get the same results in the future I will get a custom housing for my 2012 Toyota Tacoma I used to have a 2016 Toyota Tacoma six speed manual 4 x 4 with the radio installed on my 2012 Tacoma and I really liked it I enjoyed it so that’s why I don’t want to go after market on my 2012 Tacoma and you get more volume out of original radio.
