Despite all the constant negative press on the Tacoma and new competition it is still a success.

Problem is (At least here in Canada) is the Ranger is too expensive. I would have been $5-7k more for a loaded Ranger than I was my Taco. And I wouldn't even get a sunroof. Might as well just buy an F-150.

California dealers are going crazy with markups above MSRP. The markups used to be limited to the San Francisco/Los Angeles and San Diego regions, but have recently spread far inland.

A Stockton, Calif dealership today wrote: "We do not participate in Costco program. We do have a $2,995 mark up on our Tacomas." And a Yuba City dealership has $4,995 markups above MSRP. And a Roseville, Calif. dealer a $9,995 markup which includes dealer accessories.

Canadian Ranger sales are 85% of Tacoma sales. So much closer here percentage wise than USA for whatever reason.

Ford still has to put out a new Ranger though. What they brought is a very old truck and it shows when you go sit in one.

I suspect this is down to Toyota's dealer network being smaller in Canada. Outside of major population centers like Vancouver/Calgary/Toronto there are lots of dead spots. 247 Toyota dealerships in Canada vs over 400 Ford dealerships. Every small rural town has a Ford shop selling endless F150s but it's easy to live 2+ hours away from a Toyota dealership which can make servicing a pain in the ass.

Geez. I wouldn’t really group us as hipsters, some, but not 99.9%. I think they’ve confused the taco truck with another taco truck.

If you listen to Consumer Reports or watch any auto channels on YouTube they rarely have anything nice to say, it gets old fast!
