Whaaaat  I didn't know it was that much of a bonus! I always try to draft semis but they are usually going 5-10 MPH faster than me and I think the acceleration and constant higher speed would negate the positive effects of the draft. Correct me if I'm wrong, that's why I joined TW

Hey guys it seems like things have cooled down and I really am glad, I don't like seeing two Tacoma brethren fight  No need to reiterate what muddog and Ding said but I feel for both of you... Can't control everything, I understand both of your anger and frustration as well as your responses, and I am remaining NEUTRAL like a hypermiler on a decline! Hope everything works out for both you guys and Doug respect for still taking care of 100% of the monetary consequences best you can.

Are you kidding me? I finally finish nearly 2500 messages of the most positive, helpful and exciting posts ever.

Over the last 3 years of posts, pics and video clips, I've read about Doug's idea, and how it has turned into a mini movement. Do you know how easy it is to giggle that a Toyota has to run Chevy parts? Of course you do, yet you guys press on.

Then there is OMD himself. The pastor of this flock, with barely a negative word all this time. Willing to repeat his advice over and over with unfailing patience, such that I couldn't muster, even as I read on.

Finally tragedy struck the fledgling movement. With it the inevitable break down in some communication. Would the movement survive? Would the pastor's legacy be lost, or would the legend of OMD live on in his great works?

Publish this thread! It's a fucking novel!

With my neighbor SandMan's urging , I too have now gone to the JY to get my set of 1988 4x4 springs, paying with a little cash, sweat and a little blood. It was a religious experience, hammering away at a bolt in a frozen bushing with A 3lb hammer echoing amongst acres of decrepit and twisted metal.

The movement continues alive and well...

Haha, you sir, are a wordsmith..& thanks, this MOD & this entire thread was never meant to be a profit $$ money generator, it was to help others like me that don't have the desire or $$$ to buy aftermarket springs when I KNEW that the results gained were at the very least as good (in most cases superior) to those big aftermarket spring manu.

& yeah Sandman is one of my most supportive converts, he as well as others have had my back when the doubters & shit talkers start up...

Those without vision cannot see, those who won't think outside the box are condemmed to stay in the box, living their lives in feeble obscurity, squawking like parrots the knowledge they read on the shiny brochures of others ...like it was gospel.... This thread has taken a couple hits & has survived just fine & I think it'll be here long after I'm gone....;)

Been almost a year since I have done this amazing mod to my truck. The leafs are holding up great. I have still maintained my lift of 3.5 inches, have hauled 2000lbs a couple times. Not one problem, Thanks again Doug for all the support. I have recommended this mod to a lot of other Tacoma's in my area they all have had great success.

May be a little anal retentive. When cutting the donor springs I think you would want them the exact same length or does a 1/2 inch make a big deal? And measurements should be equal from the centering bolt or does it matter. Not a precise science I know but after scrolling thru a hundred or so pages I had to ask. Thanks

Equal for 2nd Gens , not equal for 1st Gens. Use your stock spring as a guide. Use a fabric tape measure (or piece of string) to measure from the pin to the end front and back.

I really should yield for an experienced response, but I'll maintain that if you replace a single leaf from your factory with the Chevy , cut to match the one you replace, you will have something close, and you can tune it up from there.

Yes 2nd gens center holes are centered and 1st gens "center" pins are offset.
Either way I don't believe a 1/2 will be a problem. Mine are not exactly equal.
