I was reading all of this and wondered what/how to get 1-1.5" of lift? My TSB springs are not flat (yet) and I want to do this. Do you think adding one leaf to each side from a 63" GM pack would do the trick?

Hey Doug, this is one of the best mods Iv'e seen in a while. I went to the junk yard today and looked at some Chevy leaf springs. All the leaf springs are 2 1/2" wide compared to my 2 3/8". Do you grind your Chevy springs down?

Thanks brother, I really like this MOD also. I used my truck for a guinnea pig for the first install of this & have nothing but good things to report so far as well as feedback from a few members I've done this for, I insisted on honest feedback from these guys so I'd know if I was on to something viable & it has been really great results . I'm running 2 Ford springs per side on my 1st gen & I DID have to shave a little just where the U bolts loop over the springs & into the plate where it bolts up. The Ford springs seem to be slightly wider but not significantly so, as are the Chevy springs we're using off of a 1 ton flatbed S-10.

Just a small amount of shaving is of no consequence safety wise & the results gained far outweigh any little alteration made.... Here in SoCal, theres a trail run/campout this weekend at the Superstition mnts part of the Anza Borrego desert. There'll be 2 members there running my springs one is on a 2nd gen (member csjumper2003). the other will be a 1st gen
    (member: taco_me_elmo) who's truck I'm doing tomorrow..

I've already told them to "hit it hard" & let me know how they do..(I pretty much already know what they'll say..:D)

People just have to pull the trigger on this & get ready for a name brand spring ride on a junk yard budget, seriously this is so much more than a regular AAL & is really a true upgrade & not just a quick fix for weak springs...;)

Ok, so today I did Taco_me_elmo's (Micah) 1st gen, he had the usual neg. arc that Toyota has become famous for, so of course we had to turn a frown upside down & put a little spring in its step.......

Sad little strips of metal ...:(:(

On another note, When I was cutting springs earlier , & as the sparks were flying I started to notice that the sparks were a little warmer than usual, so I stopped for a second , looked down & saw fuckin' flames.....:eek::eek::D I couldn't help but laugh !! (after I put myself out :D)

i finally got a chance to go to the JY to find a leaf pack that would be suitable, i wanted good arc and nothing too thick that way my ride wont be too stiff. found this off of a ford. im planning on adding 2 leaves per side. i figured id try this mod first before buying a new leaf pack

i think they were off of an F100 but not sure cuz i was just going around the JY looking for good arc and thin leafs. theyre 2.5" wide and 1/4" thick per leaf. il be adding 2 leafs per pack, hopefully it wont be too stiff. i got them cut and cleaned today, hopefully they'll be installed by the end of the week.

You def. nailed it on the arc & good idea on the shackle flip (I don't know WTF Toyota was thinking with the screwball config. on 2nd gens)

Props to you man for pulling the trigger on this, with a few tools, couple floor jacks, a little mech. ability & very little out-of-pocket $$$ I promise you'll get high $$$$$$ name brand ride for a fraction of the cost....:thumbsup::thumbsup:
