Wait...he didn't pay the tow bill? What's he raising hell for? Man, that's a 400+ bill around here.

Lol, flat spots on your tires..... oh please, people on here are so anal yet they're fine with going off-roading and putting toughguy steel bumpers or lifts on. Looks like the truck was dragged like 20 ft. If you got flat spots on your tires, you have bigger issues with the tire manufacturer than the apartment complex.

By chance did your fiancé get the notice and didn't let you see it?

It's one thing if I fuck up my truck. It's another thing if someone else does without my consent or knowledge.

Without consent or knowledge doesn't apply here. Also those 40k mile tires being dragged 30 ft aren't damaged.

I can almost guarantee nothing else is either. It's almost like it's made to last or something, why would 30 ft of towing break something designed to last several hundred thousand miles? :notsure:

Only thing OP has claimed damaged so far is his alignment, which is as questionable as any other part of this thread.

Without an alignment printout from the day before and the day after the tow, good luck proving that was caused by them. Especially lifted.

Sounds like to me, OP didn't answer his door and ignored whatever form of sign everyone else received, now is mad his truck got touched by soiled hands and now is hunting witches because he's upset, but I'd bet dollars to donuts the only money he sees exchange hands is from his wallet to whatever he wants done or inspected.

Alignment damaged from 30 ft of towing the rear axle? Tires damaged from the skid marks? Hardened steel parking pawl damaged from dragging? Brakes damaged? Lol.

Don't wait to get it looked at. Any Gap in time between the towing and the mechanics inspection will be called into question. The longer you wait the more likely they will say *you* caused those problems and are just blaming them.

Matter fact if tow company still has it let them drop it off at dealer. That way they had possession whole time.

Fucking apartments dude. This exact same shit happened to me when I lived in Vegas. Exact! Woke up in the morning to a horn-honking tow truck doing a lap with my truck hooked to the back. Apartments claim they put a notice on everyone's door not to park there because they were re-doing the lines. Bull-effing-shit!

Wouldn't the onus be on the apt complex to prove they did their due diligence to inform residents? A single letter seems pretty fucking weak. Was it mailed? Slide under the door? Stuffed on a door handle? How much notice did they give?

If the apartment building didn't knock or call the op before he was towed then that's pretty shitty.

I had a very serious conversation with my front desk folks when they sent out a letter and an email with 48hours notice about needing vehicles moved for powerwashing. I was on a business trip. I couldn't move my vehicle. They said the vehicles would be towed at the owners expense. I told them that's unacceptable amount of notice. Thankfully they sent an email. I would have been livid if I returned home from a trip to see a letter slid under my door and drag marks in the spot where my truck should be.

They agreed with the shitty timing of the notice and actually postponed the entire cleaning for 30 days.

But if the ops complex just put a letter in people's doors with shit advanced notice, he may be justifiably pissed.

Don't you think there's two sides to every story? Or maybe you believe every TW poster is telling the God's honest truth? Maybe this guy is, maybe not, but I have read too many posts here that should be sold on Amazon under fiction. Especially those who try to BS technical conversation. I feel for people, but before I judge I definitely want both sides.

    I agree with you 100%

This guy could be a goof that hasn't check his mail in a month or missed obvious signs posted around his complex. I've just seen the piss poor communication that can come out of apartment front offices.

I agree, however, they could have done a bit more at the apartments such as put some cones up in front of the parking spots with caution tape, maybe a notice could have been taped to the handrail on the steps behind the parking spots, even a notice on the vehicles windshield a couple days before.

I would have murdered someone. I would be threatening legal action with your apartment complex. Better be some free rent and damages taken care of.

I'm not saying anything about the truck or the state it was in after the fact. I will say I had a buddy get 2 new tires put on his ranger after a tow jockey ripped his truck 90 degrees across some pavement, so shit can happen.

And if he truly had no knowledge beforehand to not park there(which I find dubious due to the lack of skid marks in the parking lot except from his vehicle), then I stand by what I said.

so read through whole thread and starting to think @T4RFTMFW has a good point as well as others.
if it was dragged a small distance I doubt much really happened to it.
I'd be mad too but damage is highly unlikely.

Whether they only gave one letter not sure. Some appartments can be real shit heads. and really ignorant.
Proper barriers should've been put up and no parking signs etc. Not even mandatory but I'm talking proper quality workers.
I know the lot I used to park in a lot for work downtown, when they were doing work in sections each time they would danger tape off the entire area.

And its not just for being profession it also saves their ass for lawsuits. I know recently on one job I was on doing a whole floor of an office building, we needed to get into a storage room in the P2 level where they had extra floor tiles (raised floor, concrete 2ftx2ft tiles). First day car was parked in front of the door, not a problem just told building ops. They put up a sign etc. Next day come down to find the cones were moved and note ignored. We figured we'd be nice as it was the same car as the day before, so we left a note on his windshield advising that tomorrow he cannot ignore etc and cannot park in that spot since the extra tiles weren't needed instantly. So day three and the dumb ass did the same again, moved the cones etc. Main problem was once we get them out and load the cart we can't get back up the little ramp to the service elevator. The general who was pushing the cart slipped and bumped the guys door put a decent ding in it. I was just there to hold the doors so whatever. Either way it was some idiotic suit who thought his parking spot was more important. He tried suing the building and the contractor etc. But he can't security camera shows him moving the cones and us leaving the note as well as the sign that was on a cone in the middle of the spot. He was a dumb ass and paid for it. We did our do diligence to advise him not to park there as well as gave him a day when he didn't listen the first time. Fuck him. So with that experience of dealing with shit like this on job sites. Really all they had to do was put up a few cones etc and then they could do whatever the fuck they please.

And who knows, OP could be lying that nothing was posted and just trying to vent.
But for OPs concern about whether damage is done, its highly unlikely the slight drag will have hurt anything.

If you look at second pic, it was dollies out. Tow guy did a fast snatch to get it out then you can see where he popped them up all the way.if I dollie something today I'll take pics. The weigh anywhere from 250-400lbs. Plus the weight of half the vehicle. So I ain't just doing it..lol

You're SOL, OP. You don't have sufficient evidence that damage was done and the complex likely has something in your lease which gives them the right to relocate your car for lot maintenance.

That being said, it was still shitty of your complex to treat you so poorly. Some of their grassy areas may need a trenching.
