hello all I'm new to the Toyotaworld. So let me just jump on in. Owner of a 2012 Tacoma access cab 4x4 trd off-road V6 stock suspension tire size are 265/70r16. Now I really don't want a taller tire just would like a tire that will stick out past the fender alittle to give it a beefy look. Any suggestions on how to make this happen without changing wheels?

Welcome!Stick with the same size tire and run a wheel spacer such as Spidertrax ¼ inch.Use the search engine on the forum for some better info/thread feedback.

Yeah, that would be the most cost efficient way to go. Or if you want to shell out a grand, buy wider tires but use a ratio so that the tires have the same height.

I take it that a 1/4 inch spacer will only put the tire out a 1/4 of inch more correct?

Welcome aboard ! Proper way to go wider is a wider rim and tire combo, or an high offset or backspaced rim. Spacers are a cheaper way to go. Not recommended of course. Or do it like the stance guys, streach a tire on a really wide rim if you want to avoid rubbing issues.

I believe I will just get a wheel and tire combo. I am thinking of 265/75r16 on a 16x8 wheel

That will be a nice well filling combo......but it will not stick out any wider. The 75 means the sidewalk is now 75% of the tire width which will remain the same. IMHO though, it is a better looking alternative but it is a taller tire. If this is a non OEM rim and the off set moves the wheel out beyond factory specs, I would check the fitment of the tire first before I bought this combo.

So what would you think would be a set that I need for wide look but not height? I don't do any off-roading I'm just looking for a wider look.
