Ok--Walked in the SFO Hertz in the middle of the storms that hit Northern California this week...and was posed with a difficult choice in Presidents Circle--a Shelby, a Vette, or a ZR2?

Given the weather situation I decided to drive the ZR2 for a few days. Now I had test driven a diesel version off the dealer lot prior to buying my 2019 Tacoma TRD OR but this was the first time I could really drive one hard albeight a gas version.

#1--And this is a big #1--That thing handles like shit in a rain storm. Despite all the shit and knock that the Tacoma Super Users from the Forum Post...the ZR2 is a joke.
#2--The steering feedback was rediculously vague with little feel for the road. The other issue was the jerkiness of the wheel while driving on the the Bay Areas notoriously rough roadways. Is it too much to design a vehicle that is both performant yet comfortable? The stock Tacoma handling characteristics are so much more dialed in than the vehicle I drove.
#3--Interior....Holy crap--whover designed the back seat was an idiot. I only had a couple of small carry-ons but when you put the rear seats down, they are like 18" high....what's the point if they dont fold down flat? Definitely Classic GM Garbage. At least they are consistent....
#4--I'm sorry--Real World Power vs Rated Specs. The gas version of the ZR2 feels like it has less power than the '97 S-10 that my Dad drove. After 22-Years, I'm shocked thats the best Chevy could come up with.

I'll take my Tacoma and my 4Runner 10 out of 10 Times over this thing.

Pics? Seems a bit odd/questionable that Hertz would have a ZR2 Colorado in their fleet...

Too bad Hertz doesn’t have the old Shelby for rental.

Yes it was a rental car

Rental cars usually have a hard life, the old Shelby Rentals got abused something awful.

I’d still take one. Sometimes you’ll see one for sale for like $300,000

I just saw a commercial where Chevy says they were more reliable than Honda and Toyota.

They were supposed to pull that AD after Toyota contested their claim. But ya, what a joke.

I liked the motor in the canyon I test drove. That was about it though.

They used a really biased survey sample and some crafty statistics as support for that claim, something like vehicles since 2015, bahaha.
