Truck has more shit in it than I'd like.

If they would've let me get manual everything (windows/locks/mirrors/etc) and still retain the rear locker, I would've.

That said, the 4wd dial not lighting up is just pain absurd.

The overhead dome light comes on when you enter the vehicle, so why not just lock the doors then?

The goal is to read the time quickly while driving. I can't think of a better, more effective, way to do so than simple, digital, numbers. Can you?

The rear window is large enough to see the highway behind, with a larger window adding little or nothing to that.

Okay, I won't dispute this. Personally, I don't need a lighted 4wd switch (it's only has three, very distinct, positions, with a lighted status indicator on the instriment panel), but adding a light to the switch wouldn't hurt anything either.

The future is clearly in automatic transmissions. That's where the research is going and we're increasingly seeing variations in more and more applications (race cars, semi-trucks, etc).

There is no iPod port on the dash. It's a USB port for various types of USB devices (media players, flash drives, etc). An significant number use inexpensive flash drives over the expensive, proprietary, iPod, with the location on the dash nearly ideal for that.

I have a 32 GB flash drive in mine with all my music loaded. I think I paid $15 for it 2 years ago. No point hassling with an iPod.

Toyota's biggest motivation for that USB port was for the Ipod. Their brochures and literature keep referring to Ipod when they talk about it. Most of their salesmen refer to it as an Ipod port. The software/firmware on the display is very Ipod friendly. Sorry man, I call it like it is.

My Tacoma has quite a few interior rattles, and the rear susp squeaks like hell. Neighbors friend has a blue A/C that squeaks worse than a 50s Chevy...

Things that annoy me about the truck

Only auto up/down driver, not passenger window.
No lighted ring around key slot in steering column
09+ A/C back seats are a joke and are not nearly as useful as the 05-08
TRD Off Road should come with BFG A/Ts, the Rugged Fails are garbage
My plastic cup holder diver broke, seems Toyota fixed this with the rubber inserts in newer trucks.

Really? I have the best turning radius of any other trucks I have driven!
    Buy an H3 :notsure:

Personally I agree with above post. I would rather have have less wiring and relays and such to "rule out" when something goes wrong on the trail.

I was pumped when the used 2010 I looked at and ended up buying was 5 speed and had power nothing.

Not only is it a truck, It's a known work horse. Buy a sedan or station wagon if your looking for comfy features.

To me the Tacoma is like a Glock or AK. Rugged and reliable which is synonymous with simplicity.

When the brochures mention "USB port with iPod connectivity," that obviously doesn't mean it's built solely for the iPod - considering that (location, etc) above all others. It's a "USB port" for USB devices, which you can also connect an iPod (a USB device) to. The software related to that port is "friendly" with all supported USB devices (media players, flash drives, etc).

With that said, there are mods available for you to add a USB port inside the glovebox or simular. Check here for an example. Another option is to stream music from your iPod, hidden in the glovebox, to the radio using bluetooth (no cords at all).

I thought the same, until I tried one. Darn nice in city traffic. Didn't get a chance to try it on the open highway - no license (stopped driving long ago). If I were still driving, I'd probably consider a truck with an automated transmission. After all, you can always switch to fully manual whenever you want (enjoying the best of both).

People still lock and unlock their doors with a key? Seems too unnatural to me.
