I love diesels, but would rather see smaller turbo 4cyl engines in trucks. Same power, easy to tune, better emissions in most cases compared to diesels, gas remains cheaper, initial purchase is cheaper and still you get better fuel economy.

I want the diesel but increase the pay load as well. I want a 1 ton 4x4 tacoma while we are wishing for things. I also wish to win the powerball!

I think we are all pipe-dreaming... but if it was reasonably priced and made a favorable tradeoff in mpg I'd be on it like Lindsay Lohan on a line of coke.

I heard gm and ford might make small diesel pickups soon? If so, idk I might make the jump. More and more trucks now come with a rear locker as well.

P.s. as in "I heard" I meant I saw on the internets.

I would love to see a Tacoma with an optional 4 or 6 cyl Diesel! Not only for the better fuel efficiency, but for the longer lasting engines and better towing.

I heard Toyota is putting a diesel in every vehicle they make from today forward, gas and electric aren't even going to be an option anymore.

No new Ford Ranger yet, but the Duratorq 5cyl diesel engine has been modified to pass USA emissions for the new Transit, here it's called the baby Power Stroke.

I drive a TDI Jetta. My commute is mostly highway and I typically see 49-51mpg per tank. I'm selling my F250 and downsizing to a Tacoma. If a 4cyl turbo diesel was an option I'd be on it like flies on poo. The efficiency of the modern turbo diesels are pretty rad. More torque is a huge plus too. Biodiesel is a non oil dependent option (although it's in no way a magic cure to oil dependency). Which burns cleaner? Well that's up to major debate and no one will ever agree. However, if you figure my TDI burns pretty darned clean and burns half the fuel of some sedans of the same age I'd put a wager that my car produces less emissions per mile.

I'd buy a 4x4 access cab Taco with a diesel in a heartbeat! and the Hilux front end is UUUUUGLY!

Keeping my 1st gen. with manuel locking hub's till they come out with a diesel. I get abouts 20mpg and love it. Better than most v6 ext cab 4x4 taco's. But gawd i want the diesel sooooo bad. I might just rip off the front end of a hielux and add some serious armor to it so i can deal with it, just to get a diesel if my truck ever expires.

They better get the 4runner back to its off road roots. Looks like a big fancy grocery getter. For shame.
