Here is a video I found of an old 4runner diesel. Obviously A diesel made in 2012 will be quieter, run cleaner, more efficient, more power.... more everything.

I really want a diesel when it comes time to buy another vehicle, even though that is a long time in the future. But the taco will never be traded in for said vehicle.

It seems like that on tw but in reality theres probably only a very small number of people who would buy a diesel tacoma. most people are scared of a diesel or think they are too slow, and as far as fuel economy they may do a little better but the U.S. has so many regulations on cars that toyota would have to put earth saving devices on the exhaust that would choke the engine, robbing it of fuel economy.Believe me, toyota's done their homework. If they thought they could sell a diesel tacoma in the U.S. they would make one, More than likely though, if toyota made a 4 cylinder diesel an option on the tacoma it would sit on the lot.

Why is the petition to Toyota? It was my understanding it was the EPA's regulations limiting diesel engines in whats not considered a full size truck.

That's the problem. The enthusiast thinks he's the majority when in reality, most people don't care whether or not there's a diesel, or what 0-60 times are or how much horsepower they have.

I find it hard to believe that all the Japanese companies in N.America such as Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Subaru have failed to bring their Diesel engines to North American standards.

I think I'll start a petition for a W12 Twin Charged single cab Tacoma that runs on the tears of Chuck Norris. EVERYONE will want one of those!

In Honduras we rented the Mitsubishi equivalent of a Tacoma with a 5 speed and a V4 diesel engine. I loved that thing! Why can't we have them here???

Fuel would be even harder to get. You could buy enriched uranium easier than obtaining Chuck Norris' tears

So doesn't mean they should produce them, they would have to see what the demand for that type of truck would bring them, which would be low.. that ='s low sales, that's what it's all about here is the US or Japan, sales= $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

They make em overseas. There's a guy putting around somewhere in the US in a 4th gen with a 3L diesel engine. He had it imported.
