We just recently wrapped up another round of Tacoma World Cook-Offs. Big congrats to our two winners, @Misplaced Nebraskan and @medic2230!

The threads can be found here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...y-closed-congrats-misplaced-nebraskan.612687/

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...en-category-closed-congrats-medic2230.612688/

I still have some prizes to ship out!

This purpose of this thread is to have a discussion about what you did or didn't like about the cook-offs, suggestions for how to improve going forward, and any other ideas you might have that will continue to make this thing bigger and badder! Additionally, if you think you might be down for helping grow the prize pool in one way or another, share your interest. Don't worry, you aren't committed to anything just because you posted here ;).

This should be considered a very free, open, and honest discussion. I have thick skin, so any criticisms of my part are taken as constructively as they allow :). Let's also critique each others' ideas, vet them out, and decide how feasible they are to implement. Not all suggestions will work, but, even the ones that don't, often lead to other really good ideas, so don't hold back on sharing your thoughts!

If you have anything that you want to suggest, but not in the thread, feel free to PM me and I can introduce as a suggestion, if appropriate.

Otherwise, hop in, share your thoughts, and I'll keep them saved for consideration the next time we run this thing.

I would especially love to here from folks that didn't participate this go-around, but could be convinced to hop in the next time we do it. Contests of 25+ entries each would be EPIC!

I think it went pretty well. I think it was a good call to extend the closeout date since it was 4th July week/end etc. Glad it worked out.

So I've thought about this for a while. I was wondering if maybe people submit the cooks to you, you mark them and put them out. No one knows who they belong to they just vote based on what's seen. Somewhat how a cooking contest is a blind vote. Now we may all know what's Zach's still but he wouldn't own up to it being his until after the voting is done. What do you think?

Blind would be fun, but nothing preventing people from PMing others.

Judging panel would be fun but think you would have to have a clear established set of rules.

The popular vote as we have been doing is fun too. leads to lots of spamming threads  I know some of us may be on ignore lists now :D

Could go full SMF and do the popular vote, and have an established panel. Do a People's choice and Judges choice?

The contests have grown a ton in three renditions and that is awesome. From cookers, to voters, to donations!

Or we just do a Zach vs TW  I'll bring the Kale!:D I may have peaked on this last cook though...

Maybe I'll retire and be a judge and donate prizes.

All in all, had a blast with this one as usual. Loved seeing all the new faces and creativity on here. Some even joined up to the forum just to get in on it! That's awesome!

I just had some random stuff that wasnt moving(selling) so that ended up being some of the donations. But if you guys think of some stuff that would be a worthy prize I could prob come close to duplicating it or come up with something. If you like the bottle openers I can make some more of those also.

could do where you have to have a neutral background, butcher paper or something to make them all look the same. And honor system on not saying whose is whose.

So no cooking at the contest owner's house! :anonymous:

You can still spam the threads but it would be on the honor system to not tell everyone which is yours. I mean this is all in the spirit of fun here anyway so I have faith in my fellow TWer's. :)
