    Hey guys,

My name is Matt. I am a new Tacoma owner and am looking to offer a cheap, effective mod that will increase your safety as well as make your truck unique by standing out from other vehicles on the road. I am talking about a brake flasher for your 3rd brake light.

The brake flasher is demonstrated in several DOT and manufacturer studies to be very effective at getting the attention of other drivers and helping to prevent rear-end collisions. A recent DOT study showed that 90% of rear-end collisions are avoidable if following driver has more than one second of warning. A pulsing 3rd brake light decreases reaction time by nearly 50%. A distracted driver is 69% more likely to notice the car stopping in front of them with a pulsing third brake light.

After personally using one over the past year on my last vehicle, I can safely say that this is one of the best things I had ever done to a car, by far. I tested this myself long term to see what the DOT found was true and I noticed that it really does catch the attention of drivers around you, it increases their alertness and greatly reduces tailgating. For less than $50, it is truly a budget friendly mod that gives you a much better piece of mind on todays crazy roadways.

This is a small device that is the size of a penny and requires minimal wiring modification, stashes away in the door jam area under the side panel trim.

Some demonstrations of my slow and fast speed flasher units:

    Fast

    Slow

Flasher kits would include connections with wiring diagram and instructions. Price would be around $40, maybe less if many people buy. Compatible with 2007 to 2017 Tacomas.

GROUP BUY NOW ACTIVE. You can send payment via PayPal to STBrakeFlashers@gmail.com, total amount is $37 per flasher which includes shipping and PayPal fees. In your payment notes be sure to include your full name and address as well as your forum name. Group buy active from 07/10 to 07/24. All orders will be processed once group buy ends, allow one week for processing time.

If you aren't on the list and sent me payment, please let me know so I can add you.

Canadian members, add $7 for shipping/customs fees.

Interested, quick flashing is great, gets people's attention faster. But to be honest, $40 seems like a lot. Maybe $30 at most.

If we can get a group buy going, I will work down the price as much as I can. Usually I can work it down to $35 if over 20 people participate. Please note that would include shipping and PayPal fees.

Ah, got it. $35 would be an awesome GB price. I understand this relay works for the 3rd brake light but can it be wired to say an aftermarket brake light placed elsewhere instead?

As long as it has a traditional power, ignition power and ground wire, it should operate the same. I've seen others wire it into their brake lights.

I'll put you down, and you'd want to do all 3 brake lights?

Only for the third brake light but same premise for the main brake lights.

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
I'm no engineer, but since the 2nd gens have filament bulbs, I can't see the flash being very effective. Aka, by the time even partial illumination has been achieved, the light will go off. LED would be a must. Although, I'd love to have some LEDs up there myself, just don't trust the aftermarket lenses. Most likely would just replace the bulbs with some good quality LED bulbs.

Put them on the main brake lights also, but it's just my personal opinion.

Your right. 3rd brake light only then. But I'll toss around the idea. Think it's either COOL or will be douchey?
