Add A leaf is a very short term garbage option like if you want to put em in then immediately sell truck.

I second all of the above comments. I've got an AAL in my truck, it sucks! Will be getting OME Dakar pack soon.

Are you guys all referring to the single AAL? Or even the 3 leaf progressives?

I used a 3 leaf progressive which worked for what I needed at the time, but I can understand that a full leaf pack would be better. If I had been able to afford it I probably would have gone with a full Dakar pack

Greaaaat. I bought the TRD PRO suspension a few weeks back, along with the headstrong progressive AAL's. I'll eventually replace them entirely, but didn't have the funds to do that right now. What's the major complaints about them? Harsh ride?

I was planning on doing the same thing with my Baja suspension actually, perhaps if the springs aren't completely worn out it wouldn't be as harsh as if you put an AAL on flat leaf springs?

Let me know what happens! If you don't mind I'd appreciate a ride along before I pull the trigger on it as well

I have an Icon setup with the progressive AAL and don't seem to mind it...but maybe I don't know what I'm missing

No no. They ride great, bud. Especially the progressives. The problem I had with them was that they don’t increase capacity, especially when they’re matched with the terrible stock Tacoma springs. If you use your bed in any sort of meaningful way, you’ll want a new pack.

Whew. I’m not looking to increase my load capacity. The TRD PRO kit by itself would leave me with a bro lean. I’m just trying to maintain a close to factory rake.

I have the Baja suspension, started with tsb packs with wheelers 3-pack progressive AAL. Truck sat a little ass high unless the tent was loaded. Added any additional stuff for a trail run, and I was hitting the timbrens.

Went to Dakar with the top overload flipped, and I'm nice and a little raked with the habitat, empty water tank/box, some tools and fridge. Fully loaded I'm just shy of level, but still off the timber's. That's with a ARB front w/10k TJM and 100' of synthetic line. Front is a bit soggy, so I'll be bumping to a 750lb coil this summer

Yeah, the AAL's will give you a solid ~1" of lift in the rear for sure. But like I said, once you start loading up the bed, with anything, you're going back into bro-lean territory real quick. Camping gear, bed racks, RTT's, etc...

Here's a comical pic from a couple years ago of me hauling Chris' trailer with AAL's. Granted, Chris' trailer is stupid-heavy, but you can almost hear my truck crying out in pain.

I know I'm in the minorty, but I find +2" of rake on a truck to be badass.

I agree - positive rake is a good thing.

I just ordered the new HD Dakars which will hopefully show up this week. What does flipping the overload do?? I assume it makes it a little more smooth....?

I almost ordered the Timbrens too, but feel like I'm already spending too much money - considering it's only March. =/ I currently have the Wheelers bumps, which imo don't seem to make a whole lot of difference over stock.

I didn't even know they made 750 coils! :militarypress:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-ome-dakar-overload-flip.534516/

    750s are aftermarket springs.

Timbrens are load bearing "springs". You have to remember I have a habitat, 25gal of water, fridge, and a bunch of gear to sustain a family of 4... so my loadout is likely a touch more than yours.

I've got the Icon Stage 4 with Icon AAL - looks great, rides great. Put camping gear in the bed and I've got serious bro lean happening. Didn't want to spend the money for a dakar pack up front but it will be happening here shortly. Especially if I decide to put a shell on the truck which by itself would likely give me bro lean with the AAL.
