Wild idea... TW ships a shit ton of items. Think of the value of TW having a "corporate" shipping account. Individuals get a discout on shipping using the TW account. As a shipping company, you nearly guarantee the whole group uses your company.

Maybe not a lot of small sales, compared to a large company, but very consistent large, heavy items...

Not sure of the logistics or if anything like this exists on any other platforms (eBay).

I like this idea, esp as shipping costs are getting kinda crazy.

Which shipping services would this work well with?

Definitely a fun idea, but how would you limit who uses it realistically? And who pays for it, on this free site?

I assume the people buying/selling items here would pay for the service, but perhaps at a lower rate than could be obtained elsewhere

I assume FedEx... or UPS... I'll do more research. Just a wild idea at the moment. I don't have much realworld knowledge of it being achievable.

They'd pay for their shipping of their items of course (at the discounted rate), but who fronts for the actual account?

The hopeful answer is TW gifts it to its members, because if not, that means they start charging members, but that goes against the entire culture of the site.

I recently did this with my company's corp account to ship some wheels. It was 1/3 savings over a ridiculous personal quote from FedEx / UPS.

I'm pretty sure that it could be streamlined. I had about three messages with the lovely office lady.

IMHO, there would have to be a better reputation involved than the current BST minimums?

Well yeah. The buyer / seller would pay the discounted cost and maybe a fee for the TW help?

A TW "fee" to fund the corporate account is a solid idea

I’ve shared my corp acct with TW members in the past, and would be willing to do that for a small fee. That said, this is the @tcBob show so he’s gotta get his.

I don’t know of a way where users could go and pull down quotes on a public side leveraging corporate rates where the account holder is still playing by the rules… What it might look like is a “TW Shipping” email addy where you email to and from addresses, package dims and weight. The manager of that email responds with a quote + $5 or something like that. :notsure:

So would this essentially be Bob pimping out shipping labels? Bc I don't know any other way to do it lol.

Bob fronts and pays the account; members PM him with shipping deets (+ small fee), he emails them a label?

I like the idea of everyone getting to just login to the account and use it, but there's no reasonable way to do it that I can think of at the moment.

Exactly my thoughts. TW pimping out labels for a small fee to cover having the account.

As for the everybody gets access idea, making that possible seems like what I think most would probably be hoping for, and I have some ideas for it, but I'm not super familiar with how business shipping accounts work, so idk if they're good or bad ideas.
