Sorry if this has been covered previously in the thread (I'm also on a work computer and your pics don't show up). But I too am interested in painting the factory alloys a bronze-ish color. How deliberate were you in the prep process and would you change anything in your process if you were to paint the wheels again?

My wheels ended up coming out a gold colour, not bronze at all. I rolled with it though.

I stand blasted the rims (just to remove the big flakes) and used self etching primer. They went through hell and back and the only place they peeled was the center caps.

Do you mean sand blasted? How much was it per wheel? Self etching primer is a good idea

Yes, sand blasted. I was typing on my phone, the sun was glaring on the screen and I didn't pick up on the typo :D

It was free, my uncle ones a cabinet large enough to fit the rims in. I'm also from Canada, the prices wouldn't be realistic for you down in Tennessee anyhow.

You can get spot sand blasters and some sort of really cheap blasting media (since you can't really recover it) to get rid of the big flakes. I've done that for my old IS300 rims.

I don't have any closeups of the rims, but here they are.

I can take some pictures of the rims after two years of abuse tomorrow if you'd like.
