    Thanks!

Edited post with a clearer explanation:

Taczilla's Build... Nothing Fancy, Just a Work Limo... eh!

I painted the panel with four coats of VHT Hi Temp Wrinkle paint, and the underside with 2 thick coats of Krylon Industrial Rust Tuff. I cooked it over the wood stove for 3 days. I know it's aluminum, but I hate tarnish.

I wouldn't be too worried about the tarnish. My tailgate skin and battery tray are bare aluminum and they haven't tarnished. Yet atleast.

Can't wait for you to be done. I got the god files for the swisha loop. May do the gasps loop this year.

I like parts to look clean and professional. OCD is my issue.

So, GOD sent you GPS files?? Android or Mac/Apple ?

You're going to have to edumacate me on how these work.

Lol by god it was the guy from the swisha loop thread.

It's a zip file, with a picture of the map, a disclaimer, and the actual gpx file which can open in any gps program (I run base camp as it's free and not to bad to learn). You open the program and bam, the route is done. Just have to upload to your gps.

So I'm thinking Base Camp on a tablet should do it, using the phone as a mobile hot spot.

As for uploading the file to a SD card and popping it into my OEM head unit slot would be too easy and a stretch. :fingerscrossed:

Nice. For my iPad I can get an app for $30.00 that has world wide maps with topographical maps, and lifetime traffic (sygic). Check around as there are a bunch of apps you can use for both android and apple that have the topographical maps and road maps. Don't know if you can actually get basecamp for your device...the app on my iPad was $90.00.The other apps you can track your routes and what not as well, like a hand held gps for hiking/hunting.

As for using your phone as a hot spot, you could always get a gps receiver (bad elf or Dual-->bluetooth gps receivers) that connects via bluetooth. Once you have maps on your device, you are set. Plus you don't have to worry about loosing your "gps" if you are too far out of cellular range. Again, can't say for sure, but since my iPad has gps receiver built in, ill be running "offline". This will be my first year using the iPad, so it is a learning curve.

expedition portal has a bunch of resources for running a tablet/ipad offline with downloadable programs.

All you guys are talking about with ipads, maps in HU and offline navigation seems to be so damn complicated and techno! I just put the track in Basecamp(in wich I have TopoCanada uploaded) as @tacoma16 said to study it on the pc, and when I'll be ready i'll load it in my handheld gps to track it real time lol

That's great and what I was planning, but the handheld gps is so small to see when driving. Hoping to do the iPad as a road map and the handheld offroad. See how she goes.

So if I get you well there is a way to upload gpx files in an Ipad and be able to use it without internet connection?
Have you tried the A pillar mount? I have a succion cup pretty close to the emplacement of the A pillar and I like it there.

Edit: just red all your post # 267 lol will check too if i can find something that i would like to use

For mounts I am using a ram mount x grip that sits below the rear view mirror (it's a mirror riser and a ram mount holder).

For the iPad I plan to run it on the passenger side "oh shit" handle so my girlfriend can navigate. Will be using a ram mount system of some kind. Either a ball mount drilled to the iPad case or another x grip.

I have a TekDek that I'm gonna use with RAM mounts and a tablet. I'll probably look for a cheap used iPad with GPS.

    Well, aren't you special!

You do realize that you're talking to a techno-idiot. ;)

I don't have a clue about BaseCamp, digital TopoCanada files, and I tossed my handheld GPS in the last century. I prefer a compass and topo map when I'm stomping through the bush. But I'm a Geography major.... I'll figure it out. :D

The tablet may be a better option from what I have read. A lot of people are using tablets, you have the option of a sd card, some have the gps receiver.

Regardless of what you do, it will work. The geography major will help too lol

I assume that he did, since his avatar states ATH bumpers in the details, and that's his company.
