Using a prototype harness with incandescent bulbs for a bit over 2mo, I have not found this to be a problem. As @mesojdm said, where the tail turn drops off, the mirror turn (stock or meso) takes over nicely, even on the right side where the worst angles would be for other drivers.

Did you have to do any baking to pull apart the housing like a headlight?

    Sorry, I should have elaborated.
    they DO NOT Bake apart.
they ARE plastic welded shut. They have to be cut apart in order to get to the inside.

With just the harness kit, you still need to take apart the taillight?

@mesojdm is it possible to sell connectors in your diy parts section that one could use to make a plug n play kit to use the tail as turn module (keeping reverse bucket as is)?

Give him time - since he has already made the requisite move to LED, I’d imagine TAAT possibilities aren’t that far off. Most folks want a plug and play solution and as they say, the devil is in the details.

It definitely wasn’t a rushed request, but a request none the less. I guess I could buy the whole pnp kit and hack it with the tat and completely cutout the reverse/switchback part of the harness but would rather not

@mesojdm, where will this be listed when the product is ready for sale? I'm right there with you, makes no sense the way Tacoma lights work. The only thing worse is a Kia suv I was behind, turn signals were all the way down in the bumper below the hatch.

I keep forgetting to catch a shot of this and finally remembered...
    It’s a non-issue from what I see.

Great pic. It looks like the LEDs throw more light.

I was definitely looking at just what I could see directly from the incandescent 921NAs, not including the glow in the lens that you captured nicely.

Yea, that's from a position at or infront of the wheel well area. The lense is clear, so the yellow you see is being cast. I caught it during the blink cycle.
Once I get my KC 3rd... anybody that doesn't see that I'm stopping, turning or backing up is an imbecile.

EDIT: I should also note that this is the 2018 "blackout" taillight. Those with the chrome will have even more reflection thrown.
