Looking to add letters to my 3rd gen Tacoma. Anyone have a good or bad recommendation?
Initial searches I find a variety of pricing and materials.

My TRD Sport came with them, so I haven’t had to buy any, but one thing I’ve heard over and over is don’t get metal ones. Apparently they don’t last. The paint flakes off them. Go with vinyl or plastic. You could also get them right from Toyota. Guessing they sell them since the Sport comes equipped with them.

I just got some from Amazon, not super impressed with quality, but they held up through the torrential downpours the past couple of days. We’ll see how they do long term….!

bought these from Amazon in 2021. great product and if you follow the directions and clean the area well and wipe with denatured alcohol to prep, they go on great and have held up to 3 PA winters (although garage kept but parked outside daily), regular power washing, etc.

just recently got these badge overlays from Amazon too but barely a month into them at this point

i would still recommend both as its not an overly expensive investment should they not work out.

I installed the same overlays on my truck. So far so good! They fit perfectly, and I definitely like the look.

I installed the die-cut vinyl emblem overlays from TVD Vinyl Decals (dot com), in the vendor forums on TW. Rich does great work, and my install took less than two hours with the instructions and color matching advice provided. https://tvdvinyldecals.com/collections/tacoma Color card and match advice is provided in the blog section of his site.

I got mine from toyota just plain black to go along with blackout emblem covers they look great easy to install just make sure you clean and center each letter correctly as they don't come off easily

I got myself some black tailgate letter inserts a few years ago. IThey weren't very expensive.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BWRMC1L2/

Mine are black, die-cast, and came with 3M two-way auto-adhesive tape applied. I installed them in the summer, and softened the tape up with a hair dryer when I installed them. They've been on for two years+ now..

The only problem I have with them, and its definitely a first world problem, is getting the (auto) wax out of the crevices...

Try using a soft brush like what chemical guys sells or a soft toothbrush if the wax has cured should brush off easy

Just a word of caution for those who are buying cheaper versions on Amazon.
That’s where I got mine and they looked great for the first year.
Now they look like a light gray compared to the nice dark black stock decals.
It’s not to the point that I’m running to replace them but it catches my eye every now and then and annoys me a little.
