I just got a new to me a 2013 Tacoma in mind condition. Yesterday, I could not find a way to lock the tailgate, all I see is the OEM backup camera next to the handle. No possible way for me to lock it with a key, there isn't a hole to insert the key.

    Am I missing something?

No 2nd gen had an OE tailgate lock.

Do you have a hard cover or a topper?

Came with a hard cover but I would like to replace it with a BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau - 2013 Toyota Tacoma BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover | RealTruck

Not sure if I'll be able to secure the bed with the BAKFlip MX4 like I do with the hard top.

I’ll second Tactical_Panda on this, i installed one on my ‘14 about 3 months ago, and it works just fine. Installation took about 20 minutes. My only caveat is it feels a little cheap but i think thats just the plastic used in the handle. It’s holding up fine.

Better to have both that and the pop & lock tailgate lock.

I have the bakflip and the pop & lock... no regrets getting it and easy install as well.

I’ve had the pop&lock on my truck for about a year now with no issues. Like @jules86 said the plastic feels cheap but I’m rough on mine and it hasn’t failed me yet!
